NORTHAMPTON MALE VOICE CHOIR TRUSTEES AP4NUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021 (continued) ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS During the year the Choir continued io work to achieve its objects, but activities were severely curtailed by the Covid-19 pandemic. We continued to rehearse throughout the year- on z(botn. outside when weather atld Government Guideline5 pemiitt¢d and later in the year at our nornial reheatsal v¢nue. We held a major Pr0rn5 Concert with the GUS Band and soprano. Emily Hai& This together with related activÈties rdi5ed £85IN) for Prosta Cancer UK. We were able to take part in 3 further concerts all held covid-securely lowards the end of the year. We a150 managed a short tourto Tenby in Wale5 where we sang in outd£ venues. We are delighted to welcome David Laing as our Pr]denL David is a foTm¢r IA)rd Lieutenani of Northampionshire and 15 ir]volved in many local organis3¢ions as Chairnian or President, including the Northampton Community Foundation. INDEPENDE'T EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE COMMITTEE OF NORTHAMPTON MALE VOICE CHOIR We report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 December 2021. which are set out on pages 5 and 6. The charity's committee Consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is our responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the 201 l Act" to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act. and to state whether particular matters have come to our attention Basis of iudependent examiner's report Our examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An exatnination includes a review of the accounting rlxords kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and Seeking explanations from you as the committee concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view, and ihe report is limited to those matters set out in the statemeni below. Receipts and payments are accounted for as they are received and paid SpeCtive1y. 2. Assets The Choir owns an extensive library of sheet music that has not been valued. 3. Taxation The Choir is exempt from tsx under the provisions of S505 of the Income and Corpordtion Taxes Act 1988 applying to charities. 4. Charifund units The Choir owns 486.595 units in The Equities Investment Trtt for Charities (Charifund)- The Cost of this investment was £5.000.
