Pablos Horse Sanctuary

Trustees Report 2024/2025

Well, it’s been a year of ups and downs with the weather being the main culprit. A dry summer with no grass and now a winter with no hay. Its going to be a struggle and a challenge which we intend to rise too with the help of our wonderful supporters and volunteers.

We are always thinking of new ways to raise money but thanks to a lovey lady leaving us a nice sum in her will we are all set for the foreseeable future – fingers crossed.

We had a great Open Day in August and lots of people turned up, generating funds and lots of goodwill.

We sadly lost 3 of our very special old residents, all in their mid-30s, who had a long and happy retirement with us and have taken on several new horses who were in desperate need of a home. We are full to the brim now but also help people who cannot afford to fee their beloved horses.

We have been very pleased to welcome 4 veterinary students from Nottingham University who spent several weeks with us and were a great asset.

We also welcome people with mental health problems who relate so much to our special horses and ponies to mutual benefit.

So onwards and hopefully upwards to us at the Sanctuary.

Accounts for the year ending 31 March 2025

Independent Examiners’ Report to the Trustees

I report on the accounts to the Trustees for the year ended 31 March 2025.

As Trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. Due to income being over £25,000 in the year ending 31 March 2025 you consider that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts and to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission, whether particular matters have come to our attention.

Basis of Independent Examiners’ report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent Examiners’ Statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

  2. a. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act: and

b. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met; or

  1. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
