It wa5 recogni5cd that the Social, emotional and practical needs of people were having a significant impact on their physical hcalth and that thc community and voluntary sector had a widc rangc of services that could support pcople with these needs. The S(Kial Prescribing Service provide5 the link between health and community by findingout what matter5 most to thc pcrson and supporting thcm to acce55 local and national serviccs that can add￿sS their need5. The 5crvicc 15 funded by NHS F.ngland and,%urrcy County Council. 2021122 was a challenging year for Social Prescribing for many reasons.. wc expericnccd an exponcntial increasf in rcfcrrals to the 5crvice as GP practiCC5 wfre given inccntlVi5cd targcts for referral to thc sfrvicc. At thc time wc were under-resourccd to meet this demand and struggled to manage increasingly long waiting time5 whi15t we recruited. The pandemic and internal management issues additionally impacted staff moralc for a while. Dcsplte these challcn8es, we havc ended the year with all waiting Ii5tS significantly reduced, succe55ful rc(ruitment and thc establishment of an cxpcrienced and knowledgeable team with a wide range of skills. We have strengthened our relationships with funders, commissioners and refcrrer5 and are looking forward to the further devflopmcnt and cxpan5ion of the 5crvice. Financial Report Financial Review 2021122 Income We were pleased to have increased out overall income by some 19% compared to the previous financial year, whi15t related costs were relatively contained. The most Sl8nificant change to funding wa5 an increase to funding for Social Prescribing, a nationally recognised initiative which continues to 8row in ordcr to relicve pre55urc on thc NHS. This quote i5 from the NHS England website "In the Long Term Plan NHS England committed to building the infrastrLLCture for S(Kial prc5cribing in primary carc. In addition, we were delightcd to securc furthfr funding from the Bctter Care Fund to SUPPOrt our rclated administrative costs. We continued to receive vital core funding from Surrey County Council, Guildford Borough Council and Waverley Borough Council. and from Guildford and Waverley CCG. We are incredibly grateful to the Big Lottery for funding our Welcome to Volunteering initiative. Without this continued five-year funding we would be unable to deliver this 5erYice. In addition, we availed ourselves of the government's Kickstart scheme. with two placements. Expenditure taffing Icvels and staff turnover had a turbulfnt ycar, but a150 reflectcd growth in our Service delivery programme. Somc Lytcrnal serviccs were commissioncd to cover 5hort-term saps in staffins. By March 2022 staffing had returned to stability. C)ur out50urcfd payroll has been rcturncd in house from April 2022. A subscription to an HR advisory organisation wa5 entered into during the financial year, and continues to be used to inform and support implementation of required legislative changes to our employment contracts.
