2. Structure* governance and management
The RM Society is an unincorporated association which was founded in 1950. It was registered as a
charity in 2006 and is governed by its Object and Rules. The Trustees comprise of the Officers and
other members of the Committee and are elected by the members of the RM Society at a General
Meeting. The Trustees have the power under the Object and Rules to elect any member of the RM
Society to fill any vacancy on the Committee. Trustees are subject to re-election every two year5.
The RM Society is a member of AThEND (formerly the NAHCFI.
The Trustees have no formal induction process but several of the Trustees have undertaken training
in respect of trustee roles and responsibilities and GDPR.

3. Review of the financial statements
The financial statements have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis. A balance sheet has
been prepared at 31st December 20215howing the financial position of the charity at that date.
The Trustees endeavourto keep the administrative costs of the charity to the minimum necessary. No
material funds have been de518nated in any way.
There is no formal resetves policy. surplus funds being donated to the Benenden Hospital Trust from
time to time in accordance with the prime purpose of the RM Society under its Object and Rules.
During the year ended 31st December 2021 a donation of £40,000 was made to the Benenden
Hospital Trust.
No remuneration is paid to the Trustees but they are entitled to claim reimbursement of travel costs
and other out of pocket expenses as approved by the Committee from time to time.
4. Funds held as custodian trustee on behalf of others
Neither the charity nor its Trustees act as custodian trustee on behalf of others.
S. Publlc benefit statement
By supporting the work of the Benenden Hospital Trust (charity registration number 10659951. the
Tru5tee5 consider that they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on
public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their powers or duties.
The Benenden Hospital Trust l.the Hospital") is the main provider of surgical and medical treatment
to members and nominees of The 8enenden Healthcare Society Limited 1.the Societty'l, an
incorporated friendly society which provide5 low cost discretionary healthcare servicesto its members
and nominees. The Hospital also accepts private self-paying patients and NHS patient referrals in a
range of specialitie5, having achieved accreditation through the-NHS Qualified Providert process.
6. Objectives and activltles
The object of the RM Society is the relief of sickness and the preservation of good health of the public,
by generally supporting the charitable work of the Benenden Hospital Trust and its patients and bv
the provision of equipment, facilitie5 and 5ervios not provided for from statutory funds.
7. Achievements and performance
During the year, 2 newsletters were issued to RM Society members, in February and July 2021.
An AGM was held in October 2021 when RM members had the opportunity to learn more about the
service developments at the Benenden Hospital Trust.

pages 6 to 7.
ReSpertI￿ resp0Tr5ibilities of trustees and examiner
The chartty's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees
considerthat an audit is not required for this year under sectton 14412} of the Charities Act 2011 (the
2011 Actl and that an independent examinatton is needed.
It is my responsibalityto:
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act..
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Dirertions given bythe Charity Commission
under section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act; and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attentton.
Basls of Independent examinerfs report
My examination was carried out in accordan￿ with the general directions gNen by the Charity
Commission. An examination in£ludes a review of the accounting records kept by the charty and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also include5 consideration of anv
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanatioths from you as trustees
cob7cerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would
be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a
'true and frdir view, and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

In connection with my examination. no matter has come to my attention.-

Due to the Covid Pandemic during 2020 and 2021, it was not possible for the Tru5tee5 to undertake
any of the usual fundraising artivities. Mrs E Godwin was able to do some fundraising within her local
community by selling cakes and presetves. Mrs D Floweralso raised funds within her local community
by holding gift stalls.
The 20218enenden Society Conference was held online therefore no fundraising could take pla￿ at
that event as done in previous years. Further information about the RM Society 15 made available to
the general public by inclusion in the websites of both the Society and the Benenden Hospital Trust.
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Annual Report and Financial Ststement5 in accordance
with applicable law and regulations and confirm that they have made available all relevant records
and information for their preparation.
We hereby certify that the Annual Report and Financial Statements were approved by the Trustees at
the Annual General Meeting held on Ilth April 2022.
