The Sylvia Webber Trust Report of tbe Trnstees for the Year Ended 30th June 2024 Structure, Governance and Management Governin Document The Sylvia Webber Trust was established on 13 February 2006 by a Trust Deed which was subsequently amended on 12 July 2006. It is governed by a Trust Deed and is controlled by a Board of Trustees. Role of Board of Trustees The role of the Board of Trustees is to oversee the overall direction and activities of the charity, including its policies and procedures. to ensure that they are consistently in accordance with the charitable purposes defined in the objects clause in its constitution. The Board of Trustees confimis and monitors the strategic direction of the charity. The Trustees mcct regularly to monitor prOeSS and to take decisions conceming th¢ strategic direction of the charity. Objectives The objectives of the charity are: l. To advance education (including social and physical education) of children and young adults in the United Kingdom or Israel by the provision of grants, clothing, tools, instruments and oth¢r such items as d¢emed necessary by the Trust¢es. 2. To support the Jewish institutions in the advancement of Jewish religion andlor education for children and young adults in thc United Kingdom or Israel. 3. To support Jewish institutions which assist provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time, occupation for children and young adults in the United Kingdom or Israel with the object of improving their conditions of life 4. To relieve financial hardship. sickness or distress and further general charitable purposes for children and young adults resident in the Uniled Kingdom or Israel who are in need of such help. Achievement and Performance The income of the Trust derives from the dividends it receives from its shareholdings in the Brymore Group. This income stream is expectrd to continue in the future at the current level. The Trust agreed to continue its support of those organizations which it has supported in the past. The Trustees made Several grants to organization5 providing social and welfare facilities in the UK and Israel. The Trustees consider that the grants made during the year meet the objects and purposes of the Trust. The income for the year amounted to £92,365 (2023: £69,273) and the expenditure was £80,515 (2023: £163,460) leaving a surplus of £16,623 (2023: £4,773).
The Sylvia Webber Trnst Report of the Trustees for the Year Ended 30th June 2024 Reserves Policy In view of the steady flow of dividends from the Brymore Group, and in view of the continuing pressure on clwities following the Covid epiden]ic and the aft¢mJath of the October 7 attacL8 on Israel. the TteeS felt tbat all available fimds should be used to support its charitable aims. The policy will be reviewed in future years. Plans for the Futsre The main plan for the year ahead is the continuing development and expansion of our ability to help all those who fall into our "Objectives" category. Trustees The TnteeS are responsible for preparing the Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and the Unitd Kingdom Gcncrally Accepted Accounting Practice applicable to small charities. The TnteeS bave. therefore, prepared fncIal statements for the last twelve months financial peTiod which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the surplus or deficit of the charity for that pcriod. In preparing those flllancial statements the TteeS have".- Sclected suitable accounting policies and applied them consistently Made judgements and estimates that are reasonable and pn]dent Prared the financial ststement on the going concern basis The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose, with reasonable accuracy at any time, the fmancial position of the CILarity. They are also responsible for taking reasonable steps for the detection and prevention of fraud and other irregularities. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE SYLVIA WEBBER TRUST FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH JUNE 2024 I report on the Accounts of The Sylvia Webber Trust for the year ended 30th June 2024 which are set out on pages 5 and 6. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of th¢ Charities Act 2011 ('th¢ Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirni that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in reSpt of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act. or the accounts do not accord with those records. or the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the fomi and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
