**Annual Report and Annual Accounts 2021/2022**

## CHAIR’S STATEMENT

2021/22 had formidable challenges as the impact of the COVID-19 restrictions still existed. However, SADC working in close cooperation with local authorities and other voluntary organisation have tried its best to work with and support vulnerable children, youth and families. We have reached so many of our service-users via virtual platforms and telephones. Although 2021/22 knife crime incidents have fallen in comparison with the previous years, there were still victims of knife crimes. The battle to safeguard young people from violent crime continues.

SADC mission is to work hard in order to meet these difficult challenges through solidarity and cooperation with the community, the local authority, and voluntary organisations. We have worked alongside a vast range of statutory organisations to try curb the issue of violent crime. This could not be achieved without the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm of our staff, volunteers, and management committee, all of which have been instrumental in SADC meeting the needs of the community.

Ealing Somali Youth Project funded by MOPAC via Ealing Council contributed to reduce the vulnerability of the youth to gang culture, youth violence and youth radicalisation. The project helped Somali Youth at risk to steer away from negative influences that could lead them to crime. The project has also worked with young offenders by providing them with one-on-one mentoring to help them divert from a criminal lifestyle - and guide them to positive pathway.

It is a great honour for me to take this opportunity to send my sincere thanks to the management committee, staff and our dedicated volunteers for their efficiency, diligence, and commitment, which made this achievement possible.

We are immensely thankful to all funders whose financial support and assistance has allowed us to continue the noble work we do for the community. This is and has been great support without which the services we do for the community would not have been possible. We are particularly grateful to Ealing Council, the Home Office and MOPAC.
