Prior year adjustments
A review of th¢ ¢haritabl¢ company'5 payroll was undertaken post year ¢nd whi¢h idenlified that the PTior year surplus of Ihc
unresiricted general ￿nd had been understated by £2,144, and ihat debiors and crcditOTS balances had been similarly ov¢rs¢at¢d
in aggregate.
The results of Ihis revi¢w hav¢ b¢en Teflected in the 2024 financial stat¢in¢nts ￿ a prior year adjustment M,hich cotnprises two
elemen￿ as follows..
(a) A misallocation of postings li'&8 id¢ntifJed M,here transaclions had bccn postcd to cafe expens¢s instead of ￿'ageS pavabl¢ and
pension payable instead salaries. As a result, the M'ages payable balan¢¢ of £4,686 and the pension payablc a]nounl of £105
included in other creditors as at 31 Marcli 2023 has been MTitt¢n back to thc prcvious year us a maleriMI error. Th¢ ¢orr¢ction of
this error had lh¢ ¢ff¢¢l of T¢ducing other creditors in 2023 b) £4,911 and r¢ducing ¢afe expenses by £4,686 and salarics by £225
in 2023.
(b) Further investigation rev¢aled that accounting procedurc5 for rcconciling amounts due lo HMRC had not b¢¢n properly
nd¢rtaken. As a re5uII, A debtor balance oft. £2,872 relthing lo amounts oived to HMRC carried forward ai 31 March 2022
which w&s found to be erroneous and has been written back to th¢ prci'ious year as a material error. The ¢orre¢tion of this ¢rror
had the effecl ofreducing other debtors in 2023 by £2,767 and increasing salaries by the same amount in 2023.
