Details of the extenl to which the audit was consldered capable of dètecting irregularities.
including fraud and non-compliance with laws and regulakn'ons are sel out below.
A fvrther descrlptlon of our re5ponslbillties for Ihe audlt of thè financial statements is located
on the Financial Reporting Council's website at., www.frc.org.ukJauditorsresponsibillties. This
description forms part of our auditor's report.
Extent to which the audit was consldered capable of detecting
irregularlties, Includlng fraud
Irregularities. including fraud, are inslances of non.compliance with laws and regulations, We
identified and assessed Ihe risks of material misstatement of the financial statements from
irregularities, whether due to fraud or error, and dlscussed these between our audit team
rnembers. We then designed and performed audil procedures responsive to those risks,
including obtainin9 audit evidence sufficienl and appropriate to provide a basls for our
opinlon.
We obtalned an understandlng of the legal and regvlatory frameworks wlthln which Ihe
charily operates, focusing on those laws and regulations thai have a direct effecl on the
determlnation of material amounts and disclosures In the financial Siat8ments. The laws and
regulations we considered in thls context wer8 the Charitles Act 2011 together wlth the
Charities SORP (FRS 102). We assessed th8 required compliance with Ihese laws and
regulalions as part of our audit procedures on the related financial slatement ilems.
In additlon, %ve considered provlslons of other laws and regulatlons that do not have a direct
effect on the financial slatements but compliance with which might be fundamenlal to the
charlly's abillty to operate or to avold a material penalty. We also considered the
opportunitles and Incenlives that may exlsl within the charity for fraud, The laws and
regulalions we considered in Ihls context for Ihe UK operations were the Charities Act 2011.
Auditlng standards1Smll the requlred audil procedures lo Idenlify non<ompllance wllh these
laws and regulalions lo enquiry of the Trustees and other management and Inspection of
regulatory and legal correspondence, if any,
We idenlified the greatest risk of material impact on the flnancial stalemen15 from
irregularities. Including fraud. to be within the timing of recognition of voluntary income and
Ihe override of controls by management. Our audit procedures to respond to these risks
included enquiries of managemenl about their own identification and assessmenl of the risks
of Irregularities, sample lesling on the posting of journals, reviewing accounling estimates for
biases, reviewing regulatory correspondence with the Charlty Commission, readlng minutes
of meetings ol Ihose charged wlth governance and sample testing of voluntary income.
Owing to the inherent1Smltaiions ol an audlt, there Is an unavoldable rlsk that we may not
have detected some material misstatements in the financlal statements. even though we
have properly planned and performed our audii in accordance with auditing standards. For
example. Ihe lurlher removed non-compllance wilh laws and regulations (irregularities) Is
from the events and transactions reflecled in the financial statements, the less likely Ihe
Inherently limited procedures requifed by auditlng standards would identify it. In addition. as
wtth any audit, Ihere remained a higher risk of non41etection of irregularities, as these may
involve collusion, forgery. intentional omissions. mlsrepresentations, or the overrlde of
