These men are trusted colleagues and so this mitigates some of the risks involved with working with the continent. During this year HIA has continued its regular support of children and teachers in all the schools we are linked with. Five primary schools, one secondary school and one vocational college. The trustees see it as important to visit the projects and keep up the relationships that we have with the Africans. This engenders trust both ways. Our main ethos is to come alongside these men. seeing what they are doing and their vision under God, and then we assist where we can, rather than imposing our ideas on the men. This has curtailed any visiting this year. Several larger gifts came in that enabled us to continue the work, particularly with Vocational training centres in Lugazi and Nakuru. The block in Lugazi is now finished and in use. The block in Nakuru has begun internal fitting out. It is noted that the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. Section D Achievements and performance Summary oftho main achlevoments of tho charity during tho year 1] All monthly support to keep the schools working has been able to be sent. This includes support for orphans in each of the schools, as well as a contribution to teacherfs salaries, and other designated items. Although the outgoings are more than the usual monthly donations, we have been able, with the one off donations, to keep these grants flowing. 2] In Lugazi, Uganda the project of building a vocational block has been completed. 3] In Nakuru, Kenya, the vocational training block construction has continued. It is anticipated to finish this block by the end of 2026. 4] All other extra help was put on hold until visits can be made in early 2026, once Matt and Michelle have recovered from their health issues. All the visionary men have understood about this and have been praying for their full recovery from their illnesses. 5] For the A-Kili foundation work in Nandi County, Kenya, Matt has continued to assist by attending virtual board meetings, and he was able to help with the design of a new workshop block. 6) The policy for safeguarding has been drafted this year. It will be discussed with an ex pat living in Uganda early next year. It will then be discussed with the visionary men and their school staff in 2026/7. TAR March 2012
