Responsibilities of trustees for the finallcial statements
Ag explained more ￿llY in the trugteeg. regpongibilities statement fEt ￿]t n7t page R. the tmqiees (wh() are also the directors of
the charitable company for thc putposcs of company law) are rcsN>nsible for the preparation of the financial statements and
for being satistied thai they give a trne and fair view. and for such internal control as the trustees detennine is necessary to
¢T)abl¢ th¢ prepardtion of finan¢ial statements that are f￿e from malerial misstatemenl whether due to fraud or error.
In preparing the fmancial statements, the trustees ase responsible for assessing tbegroup's and theparent charitable company's

basis of accounting unless the trustccs ¢itheT intettd to liquidatc the group or the pareni charitsble Lompally or to ctas¢

Auditor's responsibilities for the audAt of the finsDciai ststements
Our objectiv¢s are to obtain reasonabl¢ assurdnc¢ about whether thc financial siatements as a wholc are free from material
mlsstateme￿t, whether due to fraud or error, to i55ue an audttor's rcport that includes our opinion. Reasonabl¢ assurance
is & high level of assurance. but Is not a guardntee that an audit conducted in accordance with ISAS (UK) will always detect a
material misstaiement when li exisis. Missraiements call UTiS¥ ftom fraud or ertor and ate COll5idctcd mat¢ria] if, Individually
or iti the a￿(1 gate. thcy could reasonably be expected to influence the economic d￿lSIonS of llsc￿ taken on the basis of these
financial statements.
Irregularities. including frau( are instances of Don-compliance with laws and tegulations. We design procedures in line with
our 1¢sponsibiliLi¥b, outlined aboi'¢. to detect Enatetial misstat¢ments in respect of irregularitics, including fraud. The eXt￿t to
which our procedures arc capabl¢ of detecting irregularitics, inrluditig traud is detatled below.
Based on our und¢TStanding of tbe group and th¢ ¢nviFonment in which it op¢rdtes, we identified that the PTincipal risks of
non-cornpliance with laws and regulaÉiims Tela￿1 to the independent schiK)l Tegulotions. safeguarding reg￿latIo[l5, health and
SiiFtrly twuir¢Inents, ODPR, eniployment law and chariry law and we considered the Cxtcnt w which non-compliance tnight
have a material effect on th¢ fingncial statements. We also consideted those saws and regulations that hav¢ a dirc¢t impact on
the preparation of the f￿anCIal slatemenls sii¢h as the Charities Act 2011 and Compat]ies Act 2(K16 and Consider other f&ctors
such as paytoll tsx.
We evaluated managemcnt's inccntivcs and optN)ttunities for frauthilcllt manipulation of the financial ststements (including
the risk of override of controls). and detem)ined that the principal risks were related io th¢ imprnper recognition ot revenue
and management bias tn accounting estimat&s. Audit procedu￿£ perfonned by tbe eDgageweDt team included:
inspecting cotTespondcnc¢ with regulators artd t&K authorities;
discussions with managem¢nt including considernÈion of known orsusp￿tEd instanees ofnthh-compli8nce witb laws
and regulation and fiaud.
evaluating managcment's colltrols designed to preva]t and detect irregularÈties;
identifying and tcsting journals, in p8nicular journal entries t￿led at the end. and
challenqing &%%umptions and judgements made by uthnagemellt in their criti￿1 accounting estimates.
Because of the iKtherent limitations of an audit, there 15 a risk that we will nni detecl all irregularities, including those leading
to a inaterial mis5tat¢ment in the financial statcrncnts or llon-CQtnplÉance with regulation. This risk increascs the morc that
compliance with a law or regulation is removed froln the evenrs ond transaciions reflected in the financial statements, &s we
will be l¢ss likely to become aware of instaDces of non-complianc£. The risk is also greater regarding irregulariti
occurring du¢ to fraud tather Lban error, as fraud illvolvcs int¢ntiotEal conCeal￿ent, fO￿ery, collusioty omission or
misiepresentstion.
