The Brain Charity has delivered another strong set of results in 2023124. Our income continues to increase. driven by our
new and growing Neurodiversity Trainin8 offer and a strengthened Communications & Fundralslng team. We are always
grateful to those who leave us glfts In thelr wllls, and thls has been a ￿gnIficant ¢ontrlbutlon to th15 year'5 Income.
We contlnue to manage our expendlture well and are very proud of the finan¢lol outturn for the year.

Next year's actlvity wlll see the advancement of Al-supported wor* systems. an Intranet and Phase 2 of our CRM

As we emerge from the global pandemlc and the financlal crlsls, the Charlty generated an overall surplu5 on the Income and
expendlture account.

actlvltles of Mersey Neurologlcal Trusts. an assoclated charlty. were transferred to the Charfty.
The Charlty Is controlled by Its governln8 document, Its Artlcles of Assoclatlon, and constltutes a prlvate company Ilmlted by
guarantee. Incorporated under the Companles Act 2006 In England and Wales. In February 2020. new Artlcles of Assoclatlon
were unanlmously approved by the board and flled wlth Companles House, havln8 been brou8ht up to date In accordance

At the tlme of approvlng the flnanclal ststements, the trustees have a reasonable expectatlon that the charitsble
company has adequate resources to contlnue In operètlonal exlsten¢e for the foreseeable fLrture. Thus the trustee5
contlnue to adopt the golng concern basls of accountlng In preparlng the flnanclal statements.
1.3 Charftsbl• funds
Unrestrlcted funds can be used In accordance wlth the Charlty's obJectlves at the dlscretlon of the Trustees.
Restrlcted funds are sublert to speclfl¢ condltlons by funders as to how they may be used. Restrlcted funds Can only be
Used for partlcular restrlrted purposes wlthln the objectlves of the Charlty.

Endowment funds are 5ubJett to speclflc condltlons by donors that the capltal must be malntslned by the charlty.
1.4 Income
Income Is recognlsed when the charlty Is le8ally entltled to tt after any performance condltlons have been met. the
amounts can be measured rellablyl and Itls probable that Incom¢ wlll be re¢elved.
Cash donatlons are recoEnlsed on recelpt. Other donatlons are retO8nlsed once the charity has been notlfied of the
donatlon, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable In relatlon to
donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant Is ￿COgnISed at the tlme of the donatlon.
Legacies are fecognised on receipt or otherwise if the charity ha5 been notlfled of an impending distribution. the
amount 15 known, and receipt 15 expected. If the amount 15 not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent asset.
Where there are terms or conditions attached to incoming resource5. particularly grants. then these terms or conditlon5
