Our Charity's purposès as set out in the Objects contained in the Company's Memorandum of
Association are to relieve the suffering of any animals and dogs partlcularly, which are of need
of care and attention and in particular..
a) to aid animals and in particular dogs, in distress through injury or other causè and to arrange
vetsrinary treatment if necessary..
b) lo find good and suitable new hom6s for dogs in our care or that come to us for attention-.
c} lo asslsl members of the public by means of Snfomialion, education OT in any way
whatsoever that will enable them lo dlrectly aid animals needing Irealment or h81p.
The Alms of th8 Charity are lo care for homeless dogs (and other small animalslbirds) and to
improve standards of animal welfare wilhln the community. Our Alms fully reflect the
purposés that the charlty was set up to further.

achleved and the outcomes of our work in the prevlous 12 months. Th8 r8view looks at the

we are able lo help.
The review also helps us ensure OUT Aims. Objectlve8 and Activitles remalned focused on our
slated purposes. We have referred lo the guidance conlained In the Chadty Commlssion's
genéral guidance on public benefit vthen reviewing our Ams and Objectives and In plannlng
our future activltl8s. In particular, thè trustees Gonsider how planned actSvitles will contribute
lo the alms and objecllves they have set.

Q malntaining a managed pool of volunteers who could assist paid slaff with all aspects of
animal care including cleaning, training. exercising:

care provided where needed to aid adoptive homes where anlmals have partlcular long term
health issues:

more comfortably during the winler months.
The Trustees have now been able to fully develop the existing Sanctuary facility and it now
operates regularly at maximum anlmal holding capacity. Sadly the charity is not able to
accommodate all of the additional animal rehoming requests made when it is so regulady full.
The past eighteen months have seen an increase in requests for spaces al the sanctuary.
These arise wher8 dogs are unwanled,slray, or where the owner has dled or theres is a family
collapse. Alongside this, urgent requests regularty come from the Police, Local Authority pounds
and other institutions who cannot find help from other source5. Calls come in from all over
England.
Achlevements agalnst obJ•¢tlv08 8Ot
The Charity continues lo successfully rehome dogs and small anlmals. plus care for older dogs
under our Pemianent Foslor scheme. In addltion, we look after emèrgency cases from the
police 8nd local authority, when we have the capacity.
Followng the acquisilion of the Little Lions Farm sile in 2022, our plannlng appllcallon was Tgfused
In October 2024 and the Trusless then had to declde how to proceed. The tenants in tho collage
had vacated the premises in September 2024. At that stage we decid8d lo sell th8 property and
whilst doing so, offer holiday Tenlals lo maintain some income. However. frh9nds of the charity
requested that we should go lo Appeal, which w8 did. Sadly on 18 August 2025 we were nolified
that the Appeal had been dismlssed.

The organisallon Is a charitable company limited by guarantee, incorporated on 21 st March
2006. The company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established
the Objects and Powers of the charitable company and is governed under its Articles of
Association. In tho ovent ofthe company being wound up, the members are required lo
contribute an amount not excoedlng £10.

-Recrultmenl and Appolntment of Management Commlttee
The directors of the cofflpany are also the charity Iruste8s for the purpos&s of Charity law and
under the company's Articles are known as members of the Management Committee. One
Ihird of the Management Committee rellre each year by rotslion. Under the requirements of
the Memorandum and Articles of Association the members of the Management Committee
are r8sponsible for making declsions on all rnatters of general concem and irnportance to the
charily including deciding on how the funds are spent.
-Organisational Structure
All members of the M8nagefflent Committee give their time voluntarily and received no
benefits from the charity. Any expenses reclaimed from the charity are set out in note 6 to the
accounts.

Each mgmber of the Management Committee focuses on a particular area of the charity's
undortakings. And the obligations of Management Committge members include Ihe operation
framework as sel out in the Memorandum and Articles, and resourcing and the current
financlal position as sel out in the lalesl published accounts. Future plans and objectives are
also discussed, drawn up and amended regularly.
The twslees are appointed from our volunteers. Each of them has a long stsndlng
r8lationship with the Charlty and has experienc8. All the trustees have different backgrounds
and bring a pool of knovledge which contributes to thé smooth running of the Charity.
The Charity does not have a CEO.
The day to day running of the Sanctuary is managed by a Sancluary Manager asslstèd by
Duty Managers.
The Charlty has an Annual Appraisal proces8 and staff salarles are revlewed after this each
year, taklng note of the Llvlng Wage iegulations.
The Shop is run by a Manager.

The net result for the year was an Increase to unrestricted reserves of£275,071 (2024
£27,094) and a d8cre8sé in restricted reserves of £8,810 (2024 increase of £35,237)
Fundral•lng and Lagacl•s
Performancé of fundral8ing actlvltles agalnst obl8ctlv8$ set
Each year we have endeavour to havo two Fairs. in the Spring and Autumn and our main
fundraiser is a Fun Dog Show in early Summer. We do nol have set larg81s for thèse as each
yèar is differ8nt. There are also a number of smaller fundralsers, throughout thè year. All
these are used lo raise the profile of Ihe Charity In the local area.
In 2024-25 we held a Spring and Autumn F8ir and organised the Dog Show at Broadslone Fun
Day. We also b6n•fitèd from a Garden Party and numerous smaller evènts wlth the proceeds
coming to Waggy Tails.
Our princlple fvnding comes through legacies but we cannot rely on these solely. These allow
us to pay our Vet bllls whlch have Increased signlflcantly over the last year and any extra
money goes into the property fund for use at Little Lions Farm.

That our annual expenditure ￿11 exceed our income.
6> Reserves Pollc
In the past it has been the Management Committee's policy to maintain a balance of funds
which equates lo at least three months payments. However, as our COrnTnilments grow al a
time when Fund raising gets no easier, the Management Committee have resolved lo increase
tho reserves to six months payments over a period of 3 years to cover emergency situations
which may arise from tlm8 to time. The targat at the end of the year was £ 270,352.
7) Contrlbutlon madg b Volunteern
We would like to thank all the volunteers who work so hard in so many varied ways lo make
our charity grow and raise the monoy requlred to fund the care ofouranimals. Our office is
manned by volunteers., our shops hav8 a Manager backed by volunle8rs and all fundraising
èvents are organised by volunteers. A number of volunteers now attend regular events to
benefit Waggy Tails. The Charity would not be ablo lo function without th8 volunteers, they
are the key to our operation. Their contribution in view of the hours fre8ly given 18 invaluablè.
