Chair’s Annual Report 2024/25

This annual report reflects my second year as committee Chair. We have focused on regaining the club momentum after a few difficult years following Covid. We safely returned from our latest club trip to La Plagne in April 2024 after some of the best conditions we had seen as a group in previous visits to the resort.

We have welcomed some new families and volunteers as well as further developing relationships with members of the North Wales disability ski group.

We held a successful residential weekend in Llangrannog during October of 2024 which as usual was heavily subsidised for current members.

We are very grateful for the fundraising efforts of everyone whether it is grant applications, attending the regular charity curry nights, organising raffles and draws, or supporting and taking part in sponsored activities on behalf of the charity. All of these made events such as the La Plagne trip, the Llangrannog weekend and the regular monthly sessions all possible. (We purchased a new sit-ski in time for La Plagne and further sit skis would be purchased in the following year.)

I would like to extend my thanks to the committee as a whole for continuing to support me again as the chair of Ice Cool Kids. The committee meets on a regular basis to plan further activities, arrange continued fundraising, and coordinate grant applications whilst ensuring the safe and effective day to day running of the charity takes place. If anyone would like to join the committee to help in these activities you will be very welcome. We are always looking forward to the next fundraising activity, the next residential weekend in Llangrannog or our business as normal monthly ski sessions.

We have enjoyed additional financial support from the Rotary Club for winter 2024 during their annual raffle as well as other support financially and practically from Rotary Club members.

I would like to extend my thanks to the many volunteers who make our activities possible, both on and off the slope in making sure the charity continues to provide safe and effective sessions for all our members. We have been trying to recruit new volunteers and younger skiers to ensure ICK continues into the future so please join the committee (or speak to one of the members) if you think you can help in this recruitment as it will future proof our group going forward.

I look forward to another safe and exciting year leading Ice Cool Kids.

Ice Cool Kids Treasurer’s Annual Report 2024/25

Our opening bank balance at the beginning of April 2024 was £36,116.85 and the closing balance at the beginning of April 2025 was £52,860.28. A full breakdown of all our finances from Roger Byers & Co Ltd. Chartered Accountants is attached to this report.

The year began with the successful trip to La Plagne. We would again like to thank the sub-committee members, who worked extremely hard to organise such a complex trip.

We continue to pay an annual fee of £200 to be affiliated to Snowsport Wales and Annual Membership to Ice Cool Kids continues to be paid at £25 per family and £20 for individuals. Ski sessions in Pembrey began at £8 per member for this financial year but were increased to £8.50 from June 2024. Another Llangrannog trip was possible this year, and several families enjoyed skiing and socialising at the end of October 2024.

In response to hearing of the experiences of Cadi and Sioned Roberts on the trip, a donation of £1500 was made by Ynni Llety Ltd. Rhys Roberts also began a JustGiving fundraiser, raising £587.81.

All of these fundraising efforts allow the monthly sessions in Pembrey to continue for the foreseeable future.
