whole.|Para 1.20|**Trustees Visit to Ifakara**
Two trustees self funded a trip to Ifakara
bakery and visited all the accounts which
receive the “Free Bread.” The population is
increasing and so is the need. 8 new
accounts were added as a result, these
include 5 kindergartens, 2 day cares and 1
orphanage. A total of 544 more children will
receive free bread daily.
Meetings were held with a local sugar
refinery to discuss an annual donation of
sugar to the bakery.
A solar panel project was initiated for the
bakery.
A sanitation project was initiated at the
Nazareth Leprosy Centre.
**Supplies of free bread**
Our priority in 2023 was ensuring the
adequate provision of bread through The
Free Bread Fund to the existing accounts
we support. We funded 155,928 loaves of| bread during 2023 and over 80% of these reached children below the age of 7 at Kindergartens and Nursery schools. This is an increase of 51,600 loaves from 2022 and reflects the addition of the orphanage, kindergartens and day cares as well as the number of hospital in-patients and leprosy centre residents. It is a lifeline for many and has helped continue to maintain improved school attendance despite the impact of Covid. The free bread provided for hospital wards goes specifically to malnourished children, neonates and TB patients and for residents and day patients at the Nazareti Leprosy Centre. **Solar Panel Project** The solar panel project at Bethlehem Centre, a residential learning centre for learning disabled children was completed to provide electricity to the dormitories and recreation room for the first time. **Bee Keeping Project Expansion** St Theresa community group is located in the rural parish of Mahutanga, one of the poorest areas in the diocese of Ifakara. The group supports vulnerable local women, in particular those living with HIV/AIDS, widows and young divorced mothers; offering them needed economic opportunities, education and social support. Income generating activities include farming land, pigs and poultry. The honey, beeswax and candle products sold provide an income for the marginalised women who in turn organise and conduct seminars on environmental conservation, HIV/AIDS and gender issues in the community. This year IBP has been able to support the expansion of this successful enterprise and send funds for ten more beehives, two more sets of overalls, more training and five bicycles to access the more remote hives. **Communication** Improvements continued to keep the many supporters of the charity updated. These included to the website, and via the mass mailing of a Christmas card which included the annual newsletter. Outreach has resulted in a subsequent increase in individual donations. **Expanding the Board of Trustees** Three new board members joined in 2023 and have brought a wide range of skills and experience to the charity. These skills have enabled us to develop strategic planning, fundraising and education projects. as events. The first large public fundraising
event was held at an African Heritage Centre,
Akamba, near Birmingham, it was successful

standing orders, which enable us to receive
additional funds through Gift Aid.
