Activities
Weekly 1 day meetings 10.30-3.30 to provide physical & emotional support for cancer sufferers & those in remission. Therapy is provided, meals, discussion groups, visiting speakers. Opportunity to develop new skills & hobbies. Excursions 2-3 times per year. Transport provided for hospital appointments.
Objects: The Relief Of Sickness Of Persons Suffering From Cancer And Those In Remission, In Particular But Not Exclusively By The Following Means:(i) Offering Support By Providing Regular Meetings Where People Can Talk In A Supportive Atmosphere;(ii) Providing Therapeutic Days In A Relaxed And Welcoming Environment;(iii) Providing Practical And Emotional Support, Information And Encouragement(iv) Encouraging Discussion With Like Sufferers Making Suggestions Of Ways Of Coping Based On Their Own Experience;(v) Promoting And Encouraging The Learning Of New Skills By Participation In Craft And Hobbies;(vi) Increasing Interest In The Locality By Organising Outings;(vii) Increasing Interest By Listening To Visiting Speakers, Film And Recording;(viii) Ensuring That The Conduct And Delivery Of Care By The Group's Volunteers Are In Accordance With The Current Guidelines Of "The Good Practice Resource Pack" (Cancerlink);(ix) Increasing Public Awareness To Cancer Care And The Group By Publicising The Groups Aims And Objectives, Policies And Guidelines.
