OTHER KEY ACTIVITIES OF THE CHARITY THROUGH THE YEAR
Due to Covid regulations, the charity could not carry out most of its usual yearly activities. However, physical gathering commenced once restriction was lifted in line with social distancing rules. The charity was able to hold services on its premises and used online platforms to reach out to those not able to attend physically. The usual yearly activities carried out by the charity are:
INTERNATIONAL WEEKEND
The international weekend is the celebration of the diversity of culture within our congregation and reaching out to our community. The church has well over 12 nationalities within its congregation. As part of the celebrations of the international day, the church organized a free barbeque street party after church service with the permission of the local authorities.
The Lord Mayor of Bristol was in attendance, and the church donated £1,823 to CARING IN BRISTOL . A Homeless Charity Organisation as part of the church's Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) of giving back to its community. In attendance to present the cheque to the Charity, was the Rt Hon. YOUNG COUPLES WEEKEND
The young couples’ event is usually organized to cater for the young couple in our church community. Its objective is to encourage couples to bond ideally away together consciously and an opportunity to be mentored in tackling marital concerns each partner might have. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic COVID19, the church could not organize its couples retreat in the year under review as part of our compliance with social distance and COVID-19 protocols.
OUTREACH PARISHES IN TAUNTON
We have an outreach parish in Taunton as an extension of the church's reach within the southwest. This outreach parish helps the church to achieve part of its vision and mission of having a member of RCCG in every family of every nation by planting churches across the region.
During the year, members in the area joined the church activities through the online platform and after lifting the restriction, the church was opened to members for physical worship in the church premises.
DECEMBER CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE
This service is a yearly event organized to enable our congregation to celebrate, as a community of believers, the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, a significant event to the church's existence. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the church could not carry out the Christmas carols in our community Care Homes.
UNIVERSITY CAMPUS FELLOWSHIP
The charity has an influx of international students from the two universities in Bristol. The church organized a welcome party on campus for the students, and refreshments were provided. At the same time, the church continues to support the students in settling in Bristol.
Furthermore, the church also organized a seminar/service for the new students in church. Professor Olomolaye was in attendance to sensitize and mentor the students on what to expect in their academic pursuits and how to navigate the challenges that may confront them during their studies.
CHILDREN WEEKEND
The children's weekend is a period that we celebrate the children’s members (Ages 3 to 12) within the church. The children had their presentation in the church. Due to COVID-19, we could not carry out other external activities outside the church for safety reasons. The children's teaching resumed in church after lifting COVID-19 restriction with full compliance with the relevant protocols.
COVID-19 AWARENESS SEMINAR FOR BURUNDI THROUGH AFRICA MISSIONS PLATFORM
The church also organized seminars for its 10-outreach mission in Burundi to sensitize members on hygiene, safety measures and vaccination in the year under review as part of its Africa Mission programme.
