Special Events and Outings
In August 2023, the church organized an outing to Scurlage Strawberry Farm. Children, youth, and parents came together to enjoy picking fresh strawberries and spending time in the breezy summer weather of Britain. Twenty youth members attended the PHAT camp, organized by the Chinese Overseas Christian Mission (COCM) at a campsite near Birmingham. This experience strengthened both their faith in Christ and their friendships with one another. Some youth shared their personal encounters with God during a church service in August.
In September 2023, we held our year-end ceremony for the Chinese class. This event provided an opportunity for the children in our church to express their appreciation to their Mandarin teachers and volunteers. We also offered gratitude for the growing number of Chinese families joining our congregation.
In October 2023, we marked our 8th Church anniversary with a worship service, giving thanks for God's work in Swansea, particularly among the Chinese community. The event also highlighted God's faithfulness and provision, and was attended by local pastors and ministry partners.
December 2023 marked a period of increased outreach activities. Our team visited the Swan Garden residential home, where we sang Christmas carols, presented gifts to the elderly residents, and engaged them in games. This occasion fostered joy and allowed us to share the love of Jesus Christ with the community. In addition to our annual Christmas service, we organised a year-end thanksgiving service on December 31st. Members of our Cantonese-speaking cell groups performed songs and dances. These events served as a reminder of how God brings together
individuals from diverse backgrounds, encouraging us to embrace and demonstrate love for one another through the teachings of Jesus.
Jan-Feb 2024 – Our community celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year with a series of thoughtfully organized events. This occasion provided an excellent opportunity to welcome new friends by inviting them to our special Chinese New Year (CNY) service. Members of the congregation wore traditional Chinese attire for the event, and our Sunday school children contributed to the festivities by performing songs and dances. In the afternoon, we hosted various CNY-themed activities, encouraging friends and family to participate. These included a Chinese calligraphy station, where attendees practiced writing traditional blessing phrases on red paper, as well as sweet dumpling making and interactive games related to the holiday.
Additionally, the students’ and youth fellowship organized a dedicated CNY event. Alongside enjoying traditional cuisine, participants heard from a missionary and his daughter—both of whom previously resided in China —as they shared their experiences and insights about living there.
April 2024 – We observed Easter, a significant Christian event that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, symbolizing hope and the promise of eternal life with Him.
June 2024 – Our biannual church outing took place at Cwmdonkin Park, where we enjoyed the British summer by singing, playing games, and connecting as a community. Both elders and youth had a wonderful time.
