INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF
MAWDWSLEY EQUINE AND PEOPLE TRUST
WORKING NAME-"JIGSAW"
I report on the accounts of the Mawdesley Equine and People Trust for the year ended 31 March
2023, which are set out on page 3.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. You consider
that an audit is not required for this year undef section 144, of the Charities Act 2011, (the
Charities Act), and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibilrty to..
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity
Commission, (under section 145151(bl of the Charities Act, and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examlner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charily
Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity
and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of
any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees
concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an audit and consequently, no opinion is given as to whether the accounts
present a 'true and fairf view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement
below.
Independent examinerfs statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the
requirements:
o to keep accounting records in accordance, in accordance with section 130 of
the Act., and
o to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply
with the accounting requirements of the Act
have not been met., or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.

YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024
Mawdesley Equine & People Trust Icharity no 1113726] in its sixteenth year of operation since it
was formed as an amalgamation of the functions of Backhouse Horse Welfare. Assessment &
Therapy Centre and Backhouse Therapeutic Equestrian Centre, has mantained its presence and
operation at the Jigsaw Stables in Mawdesley.
The charity has provided on-going welfare & training to the ￿ulneS in its care, whilst maintaining
its role of providing advi￿ and advancing the 8Jucation of the publtc at large in matters relating
to the Ca￿ and welfare of equines.
Jigsaw continued to work on developing activities on the site that promote health and well-being
for the public, in accordan￿ with the stated Charitable Objects.
The grant funded improvements including wheelchair friendly a¢￿sS for all to the site facilities
have now been completed and are in use.
