To relieve poverty, advance education, improve access and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare, recreation, leisure and support with the object of improving the conditions of life for the people of Tanzania and their environment by the provision of such financial or material support and assistance as the trustees shall from time to time determine.

Orphans in the Wild supports Non Government Organisations (Ngo) in Tanzania, East Africa. The specific nature of the support is financial, increasing awareness of the plight of the children and families who are victims of AIDS, coordinating and shipping donated equipment and goods for schools, hospitals and orphanages. The activities supported by Orphans in the Wild have been deemed to be of public benefit to the communities of Tanzania and the trustees have paid due regard to the guidance on public benefit as given by the Charities Commission of England and Wales. The communities are hard struck by the economic and social impact of HIV/AIDS. Summary of the main Infection rates in this region of Tanzania (Mufindi District) are around activities undertaken for the 40% which is one of the highest in the country. The impact on the public benefit in relation to communities is evident in every walk of life. Orphans in the Wild trustees have begun to build up an investment sum with the objective that the annual yield will create a sustainable income to pay for the care of those children in the Childrens Village. This decision was made in light of the pandemic and the vulnerability of such a project to the fluctuating nature of donations. Unlike other projects which can be scaled down or up depending on the value of donations, once children are in the Childrens Village they have nowhere else to go and therefore it is fundamental to secure a regular income for their care.

Summary of the main achievements
of the charity during the year		 Achievements and Performance
During 2025, our supported NGO Foxes Community and Wildlife Conservation
Trust (FCWC) continued to deliver its charitable objectives by providing
integrated support to vulnerable children, families and communities in the
Mufindi District of Tanzania, whilst promoting environmental conservation and
sustainable development.
Our Children's Village provided full-time residential care for 30 orphaned and
vulnerable children, with a further 19 young people receiving ongoing
educational and welfare support after transitioning to family-based care. The
Baby House cared for 9 infants and toddlers awaiting reunification with extended
family where appropriate.
Education remained a key priority. A total of 112 children and young people
benefited from educational support, ranging from nursery education through to
university and vocational training. Our Vocational Training Centre continued to
equip local young people with practical skills in carpentry, tailoring, mechanics,
agriculture and entrepreneurship, improving future employment opportunities.
Healthcare programmes continued to make a significant impact. Our milk
powder programme supported 21 vulnerable infants who were unable to
breastfeed, while our network of 13 trained community health volunteers
conducted over 2,600 home visits, providing support to people living with
HIV/AIDS, disabilities and other long-term health conditions.
The Youth Agency in Mufindi (YAM) programme exceeded many of its annual
targets, providing training, rehabilitation and employment support to young
people with disabilities. During the year, 134 young people completed vocational
and entrepreneurship training, 59 children received rehabilitation services, and
68 young people secured work placements with local employers.
Environmental conservation remained central to our mission. Conservation
teams continued rainforest restoration through indigenous tree planting, habitat
protection, anti-poaching patrols and the removal of thousands of snares,
helping to preserve biodiversity and protect vital water catchment areas.
Infrastructure improvements during the year included continued progress
towards completion of the Nyamongolo Hydropower Project, upgrades to water
and electrical systems at the Children's Village, and construction of new facilities
at the Igoda Clinic.
The charity also strengthened its governance and compliance by updating its
constitution, implementing safeguarding policies and complaints procedures,
maintaining compliance with Tanzanian NGO regulations, and providing staff
training in safeguarding and data protection.
These achievements were made possible through the generosity of our donors,
volunteers, institutional partners and supporters, whose continued commitment
enables FCWC to improve the lives of vulnerable children and families while
protecting the natural environment for future generations.
