We feel very proud to consistenuy maintain a team of around 100 volunteers. the vasl maiorfty of
whom {98QAI have or have had slomas. Volunteers play a wt81 rola in $upport $grvice¥, where
they piovlde peer-to-peer experienced-based advice to people at all siages of thelr stoma joumey.
They also assist us In the dellvery of projects and with our campaigning ond 8dvot#cy work. Th8re is
a c103e re5#tionshlp volunteèrts ond th¢ olfico loam. which w• ¢ontinu• lo fo•ter through
irwaluable regular m8•tings both online and in person.
All volunteers are DBS checked and re¢¢lve full training before aGtlvely r¢pro?enting the charity. They
also undertake regular refresher training. vawng in content anij design8(I to encompass both
skillthased training and knovAedgevb8se(I development- $6s8ions moy focus on comrnunicatlon and

philosophy of Ihe chartty lo thls day, wilh our vdunleer-led structure. All of the volunleers who help to

to empathise with and support fellow ostomates.

Our virtual ciasses, launched during the Covld lockdown5, remain extremely popular. and thls year
2,531 people attended a total of 112 virtual Active Ostomates classes. in¢knding YoJa. Chair Yoga,
Mlndlulne$s an¢J Meditation, art, Zumba and Plates.

practical advice and guldance on how to care for someone with a stoma. By edu¢aUno corers on the
practical and @mollonal needs of people with gtomas. thè workshops alm to improve the qualty of life
of ostomates who neèd regular support.
