3. Information services including information booklets IB.g.I 'Underslanding Anxiety,, 'Caregiver5 Guide lo Anxiety.,
'nutrilion and anxiety. and Anxiety UK'S quarterly tnagazine". Anxious Times
4. Volunteering and engagem9nt opportunities lor those affected by anxiety. stress and anxiety-based d9pression
5. Social media support and aw8reness activities
6. Acc85S to a lange of talking therapies through the Anxi8ty UK Approved Therapist scheme where Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy ICBTI, counselling, Compassion Focused Therapy ICFTI, Eye Movement Desensitisabon and
Reprocessing IEMDRI and clinical hypnotherapy are available. A n81ional clinical acupuncture s8[vi￿ is also provided.
7. Calm Club. relaxation service based on the principles of clinical hypnotherapy

1. Undertaking a cornprehensive data security review initiativè to provide additional assurancgs, including via the
appointment of a Data Protection Officer.
2. Undertaking research to demonstrate the effectlV8ness of the charity's psychological therapy servi￿$ with an
academic pap8r published in the Journal of Affective Disorder5.
3. Expanding online, anxiety support group provision including via securing a grdnt from the Danson Foundation
4. Updating the charity's branding., comrnissioning a new logo and corporate image in a warm colour scheme including
updating the Anxiety UK website to ￿flect the organisation's friendly, approachable Style
5. Expanding the global alliance ol anxiety chariti8slnot-for-profits by supporting Qasi Wasi - a Peruvian-bas9d, anxiety
support initiative and by partnering with the Anx18ty Disorders Association of Manitoba IADAMI.
6. Re-5ecuring the prestigious Ac¢r8ditation Programme for Psychological Therapies Sgrvices IAPPTSI accreditsdon
regarding the charity's psychological therapy setlices
7. Launched and mainstreamed an Eye Movement Desen51tisation ond Reprocessing IEMDRI service to complement
the charit15 existing psychological therapy servic8 provision.
8. Migrated the nabon81 helpline provision lo a new technological plattorm wth additional functionalty which included
laciliialing the reporting ol helpline data to then, Public Health England IPHEI - now part of thè Department of Health &

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Anxiety UK continued to Increase its income and profitability in 2021 wth a surplus of £283,396 achieved d8spile the
hallenges laced by the small staff teafn as a result of th8 continuing pandemic. responding to high levels of need 8nd
working rernot81y.

Basls of preparing the financial statements
The fin8ncial statements of the charitable corrpany, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been
prepar8d in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities." Statement
of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ir81and IFRS 1021 leffective 1 January 20191,
Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK 2nd Republic of
Ireland, and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historieal cost
convention. with the exception of investments which are included at market valug.
Crftlcal accounting judgements and key sources of estlmation uncertainty
The preparation of the financial statements r8quires management to make judgements, estimates and
assLJmptions that affect the atnounts reported. Thèse estimates and judgements are continually reviewed and
are based on eXp8r1en￿ and other factor5. including expectations of future events that are believgd to be
reasonable under the circumstances. Details of these judgements can bg found in the accounting policies.

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the Charity has enlillement lo the funds, It
is probable that the income will ￿ received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditure

charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer ol @conomic benefits will be required in settlement and

Unrestricted lullds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the Iruslges.
Restricted funds can only be used lor particular reslricled purposes within the objects of the chaiity. Restrictions
arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised lor particular restricted purposes.

Hire purchase and leasing commltm8nts
Renta15 paid under operab.ng leases ar8 charged to the Statement of Financial Actiwties on a straight line baS￿S
over the period of the lease.
Pension costs and other post-rgtlrement benefjts
The charitsble company op8rates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the
charitable company's pension schgfTte are charged to the Ststement of Financial Activities in the period lo which
they relate.

Arter reviewing the charity's forecasts and projectlOnS, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the
charity has adequate ￿sourceS to continue in op8ralional existen￿ for the foreseeable future. The charity
therefor8 continues to adopt the going concern ba51s in prep8ring its financial statements.
