## TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2023

The trustees of The Shannon Bradshaw Trust present their annual report for the year ended 31 March 2023

## TRUSTEES

The trustees throughout the year were:

P Bradshaw A Bradshaw D Pomfrett P Pinnington A Bradshaw B Roberts (Resigned 31[st] March 2023) K Roberts (Chairperson) C Murdoch

## STATUS

The trust was registered as a charity on 21 March 2006 under ref: 1113368

## OBJECTIVES

The relief and care of children, young people and their families living with life threatening conditions by the provision of support, equipment or services (including financial support to alleviate hardship at the discretion of the trustees).

## HOW OUR ACTIVITIES DELIVER PUBLIC BENEFIT

We provide help and support to families with children with life threatening conditions, helping with financial costs of running back and forth to the hospital, paying the rent and bills if they run into difficulty whilst being out of work due to having a sick child in and out of hospital, topping up a child’s phone so they can keep in touch with their friends and family while they are in hospital. The main purpose is to help families when they are in difficulty due to their child’s illness. The requests for help vary depending on need, most families need advice, financial help and rest, depending on funds we offer help.

We are continually in touch with the Warrington newspapers and Facebook to keep the community up to date with our events and charity awareness. Our Charity website is also kept up to date.

## REVIEW OF DEVELOPMENTS, ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Quite a busy year really, lots of donations come in from different people and companies, people organizing their own fundraising events too. On the whole, 2022 was a very productive year. Friends organised a family fun day at Tetley Walkers club and raised £4000.

Alana organized our Annual Ball 2023 and it was a complete success, along with a wonderful donation on the night from Metal Box Car company in Scarborough, she raised almost £8000. A friend, Tony Walsh, organised a charity bike ride, split between four charities, and raised a massive £8000 for our charity.

We have helped a few children and their families, with Special car seats, weekends away to theme parks and one family a lovely holiday to Disneyland Paris, daughter Isla aged 7 has a life limiting condition and only given 12 months so they wanted to make special memories. We also purchased a special needs bed for a little boy Hugo aged 3 which has made his and his family’s lives so much better.

Alana has also organized a few ladies’ nights which have been put into the pot to continue to help children.

Sadly, we said goodbye, in March 23, to one of our trustees Barry Roberts, due to other commitments.

We have had a new website built for the Trust.

We have now closed the Shannon Bradshaw Community Centre (with a heavy heart) on the 28/4/2023.

## PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

We are now concentrating on this year’s events and with the Annual Ball 2023 now over we will concentrate on the ladies’ night in November, a charity boxing night is planned for the end of August, we will also be having another charity football match or It’s a knockout, date to be arranged, probably next year now, 2024? We are also in the process of helping a few more children and their families.

Alana has already started to organize next year’s Annual Ball 2024 which will take place next July 20[th] , at the Village hotel. We will also be celebrating our 20[th] Anniversary of the Charity.

We have just purchased a special needs bike for a little girl, not arrived yet, and a new bench for Shannon’s Garden at her school.

## REVIEW OF FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS

The accounts as set out on pages 7 to 10 summarise the transactions of the charity during the year to 31 March 2023.
