In the recent Higher Broughton duster Ofsted report descnTred the work of the Hershel Wei&8
centre as a place where potential barriers are removed with great sensitivity and skill so that
local Earnilies Teceive the help they require.
Over the past 18 months, 80% of our worHoad has increased to support the 8rowing numbeT of
farnilies and children accessing our et1￿1￿Y appropriate services, requiring more support due
to a number of i&sues affecting parents or children including parentsl mental health, poverty
and debt victims of abuse and an increasing Thum￿r of lone parents.
Thi8 means our services have to tsrget even further into an already ethnI￿Y Se￿ItiVe and
economically deprived group.
We have now set up a new project working directly with the growing number of single parent
faniilies in the community we have now been awarded 3 further years of BBC children in need
ftmding to work with these families.
Our range of services has grown and we now support families much more holistically, we offer
support to get holiday, furniture, home safety, clothing grants as well as counselling and
activities for children with disabilities.
