We are raising funds to purchase woodland for educational purposes and Simon Howes has raised about £70,000 towards our goal.
The website is evolving and our admin officer has taken advice on how to manage the website and update it regularly.
The Trust was funded by The Hatcher Animal Welfare Trust to have hard copies of a woodland walks booklet away free to the general public. This has been and is very popular.
We have new adoption leaflets which include a will donation form. The leaflets are distributed around the Isle of Wight.
Fundraising hasn’t covered the cost of paying for admin and other costs, although online auctions are successful and local firms have been very generous in their support.
A volunteer has very generously been selling cakes, jam and very nice items she has made on her sewing machine, all at her own expense, for which we thank her
We are still recruiting speakers and have 4 at the moment. Groups are still keen to hear all about red squirrels, which is heartening.
We have kept our Just Giving account open and receive donations, in particular from the campaign run by Simon Howes.
Our Bluebell Weekend was successful and as popular as ever. Our thanks go to the landowners Mr & Mrs Eaton.
Although finances are tight for everyone, we are coping at present. The Isle of Wight is a nationally important stronghold for red squirrels and it is vital there is always a team of dedicated people to fight their corner.
