The financial statement5 have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in notes lo the
accounts and cornply with the charity's governing documenl, the CTrJarities Act 2011. the Companies Act 2006 and
ACcoUnt￿g and Reporting ty Lharities: Statement of Recommended Practs"ce applicable to charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of treland (FRS
102) (effective l January 2019).
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Brick Lane Jamm¢ Masjid Trust (London) Limited ("Jatnme Masjid") is a company limited by guarantee
governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association dated 4 October 2004. It was registered as a charity with
the Charity Con]mission on 5 October 2005.
The directors of the charitable company {"the charity") are its trustees for the purpos¢ of the charity law and

Jamme Masjid is the legal owner and operntor of the Masjid. The building was constrncted in 1743 and was used
as a mosque from 1976.
The Board of Trustees comprises individuaL8 who are reputable members of the Muslim community. The range of
skills represented on the Trustee Board is kept under review and appointtnents to tbe Board are Jllad¢ by the
Members of the Trust at the Annual General Meeting every two years. The Ttustees are legally responsible for the
governance and management of Jamme Masjid.
Board meetings are held on a regular basis. The Board decides utK)n matters of strategy and overall policy,
det¢tmines the priorities and sets targets.
The induction process for newly appointed Tn￿leeS comprises of meetings with Board members. and covers
governance. Documentation provided for new TTUStees includes copies of the Trust Deed. relevant minutes and a
history of the Ch￿lty. The Tn￿l¢eS have adopted a more formal approach in respect of the induction and training
of the Tr￿steeS.
RISK ASSESSMENT
The Tr￿slee$ keep under regular review the major risks that could affect their achievement of the charlty's
objectives. During the forthcoming year, a comprehensive assessment of these risks will be carried oul so that,
where necessary. controls can be fiwther improved and other actions instituted to mitigate the exposure to those
risks.
OWECTtVES Al￿ ACTIVITIES
The objectives of The Brick Lane Jamme Masjid Tn￿t (Lonth)n) Limited are as follows..

Thc promotion of thc Islamic faith and ID particular (printins thc 8cncrality of th¢ foregoing) the promotion
of the leaching of the AHL-E-su￿NATH WAL JAMATH in the area of the Greater London Authority.
To facilitate perforniance of prayer five times a day, holding of two Eid congregations. special prayer, Islamic
onferenc¢s. s¢miDars, m¢etRngs. lectures at]d nuuiing school for Islamic education.
Along with general education for Muslim children and youths.

PUBLIC BENEFrr
The Trustees have compb'ed with the duty in section 17(5) of the 201 I Charities Act lo have due regard to guidance
published by the Clwity Commission with regard to public benefit.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
The Brick Lane Jamme Masjid was incorporated inlo a limited guarantee company and is registered with the
Charity Comtni55ion. The Trustees and members have worked tirelessly to n￿ke the Masjid &s it is today.
The building was constructed in 1743 and it is evident that a building as old as this requires a great deal of
modernisalion and sttuctwal rei)Jfor¢en)ent to accommodate the new demands. The matter is not helped by the fact
that the bullding is a grade Il listed structure requiring a great deal of care and attention in the way it is upgraded,
adhering to the English National Heritsge's regulation.
The English National Heritsge is a regulalory body in charge of listed buildings atLd conservalion areas.
Modernisation of any listed structures requires consent and undergoes a great deal of scNtiny from the body.
The regeneration plan illustrates the forward thinking steps that are being taken by the Trustees to meet current
demands while planning for the uses of generations to come.

ACHIEVEMENf AND PERFORMANCE (continued)
A few years ago. significant itnprovements have been made to the women facilities. During the year, the charity
carried out exlensive works on the property including replacement of window, repainting and installation of new
air-eonditionin8 utiits. The Mayor of London. Sadiq Khan as well as Paul Scully, a forn]er politician who served
as the Member of Parliament for Sutton and Cbeam up lo 2024, paid a visit to the Brick Lane Jamme Masjid which
was a joyous occasion. The Ttustees are grateful for their visiL
The Trustees would like to convey their sincere thanks to the volunteers. staff. mussallies, managemenL the local
authorities and others who have so generously given their support io Jamme Masjtd. With their support, we look
forward to continue enhancing the deliveries of our charitable objectives within the community.
FINANCIAL REVtEW
The main sources of income are from regular collections and donations received by the charity. The charity's
income from regular collections and donations in 2024 was £218,786 (2023: £164,495) whilst income from trading
activities and other income amount to £11,778 (2023.. 11.875). After resources expended of £203,742 (2023..
£133,249). Ihere was a surplus of 26,822 (2023: £43,121). During the year. the cbarity has incurred expenditure on
the general maintenance of the listed building in which prayers are conducted.
Ai the year end. total funds amount to £4.019.157 (2023: £3,992.335) out of which £3m (2023: £3m) relates to
pernwient endowment fund and £3,116 (2023: £3.116) relates to restricted income fund.
RESERVES POLICY
The Trustees have established the level of reserves (that is those funds that are freely available) that the charity
ought to have. Reserves are needed to meet the f￿ed running costs and general repairs to the property. The level
of reserves held is estimated at £30,000.
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
The Masjid requires a great deal of modernisation and structurdl reinforcement as the building is very old. As the
building is grade tt listed structyre. any structwal work requires adherence to the English National Heritage's
Tegulalions. In 2025, the Trustee5 will continue to cany out general maintenance on the property in line with
guidance for a listed property.
INVESTMENT POLICY
The charity has no investments apart frorn cash deposits retaitied with major UK retail banks.

The Truslees who are also the directors of the charitable company are responsible for preparing the Trusfres. Report
and the flnancial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kmgdom Accounting Standards (Uni*d
KirLgdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the Tn￿teeS to prepare fmancial statements for each financial year which give a true and
fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and the incoming resources and application of resources. including
the income and expenditure. of the charity for that period.
In preparing these financial statements, the Trustees are required to..

make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent"
state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed. subject to any material departures
disclosed and explained in the accounts. and

charitable company will continue in business.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any
time the financial position of the charitable company and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements
comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable
company and hence taking re&sonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
This report bas been prepared in accordance with the special provisions relating to small companies within Part 15
of the Companies Act 2006.

Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006
Act and are eligible for independent examination. I reFK)rt in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts
as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (the '2011 Act.). In carrying out my examination I have
followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
The Trust constitut¢s a public benefit cntity as defined by FRS 102. The charity has taken advantage of
the provisions in the not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.
Th¢ financial statements are pr￿ared in stcrling, which is the functional currency of the company.
Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.

These are the costs incurred in the operation of the charity.

Other costs comprise all costs involving the public accountability of the Charity and its compliance with
regulation and good practice. including the statutory independent examination and legal fees. These
costs prinwily include costs associated with managing the Masjid.

calculated to write off the cost less cstimatcd residual valuc of each asset over its expected useful life,

the Masjid. Any gains or losses arising on the revaluation of the property forni part of the fund.
1. 7 Fundslructure
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general
objectives of the charity and whicb have not been debigllated for other PUTP05es.
Restricted funds are funds wbicb are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by
donors or which have been raised by the charity for particular PUTPOSCS. The costs of raising and
administering such funds are charged against the specific fund. The restricted fund8 are not considered
to be material and therefore the aims and use are not disclosed separdtely.
1.8 Taxation
As a charity. it is exempt from UK corporation tax to the extent that its income is applied to its charitable
objects. No liability arose in the year.

1.9 Legal slatus of the charity
The charity is a company limited by guarantee and has no share capital. The liability of each memb¢r
in the event of winding up Rs limited to £1.

The accounts have been prepared under the going concern basis the t￿￿teeS are of the opinion that
the Lharily's forthcoming events. will gcncralc levels of funds" which are comparable to that achieved
in the year under review. The funds so generated, which will more thall cover mini￿1 operational costs,
will enable the charity to meet its obligations as they fall due.

The company has elected to apply the provisions of Section I I 'Basic Financial Instruments, and
Section 12 '0ther Financial Instruments Issues. of FRS 102 to all of its f￿￿)Cial instruments.
Financial instruments are recognised ID the company's statement of financial position when the company
becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instnllnent.
Financial assets and liabiliues are offseE with th¢ net amounLS presenied in the financial statements,
when there is a Icgally enforceable right to set off the recogmsed amounts and there is an intention to
settle on a net basis or to realise the &sset and settle the liability simultaneously.
Basic financial assets
B&sic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances. are initially mcasured at
transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the
effective interest method unless the arrdngement constitutes a financing transactio￿ wbere the
transaction is measured at Xthe present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest.
Financial assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.
Impairnicnt of flnancial asscts
Financial assets. other than those beld at fair value through profit and loss, are assessed for indicators
of impairnient at each reporting end date.
Financial assets are impaired where there is objective evidence thal as a result of one or more events
that occurred after the initial recognition of the f￿ancial asset. the ￿tIma￿d future c&sh flows have
been affected. If an asset is impaired, the impairnient loss is the difference between the canying amount
and the present value of the estimated cash flows discounted at the asset's original effective interest
rate. The impairnient loss is recognised in profit or loss.
If there is a decrease in the impairnient loss arising from an event occurring after the impainncnt was
recognised, the impairnient is reversed. The reversal is such that the current carrying amount does not
exceed what the carrying amount would have been, had the impairment not previously been recognised.

Classification of financiydl liabilities
Financial liabllities and equity instruments are classified according to the substance of the contractual
arrangements ¢nt¢r¢d into. An equity instrument is any contract that evidences a residual interest in the

Basic financial liabilities
Basic financial liabilities, including creditors, bank loans, loans from fellow group companies and
preference shares that are classified as debL are initially recognised at transaction price unless the
arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, wher¢ th¢ debt instrument is me&sur¢d at the present
value of tbe future receipts discounted at a market rdte of interest. Financial Ilabilities classifjed as
payable within one year are not amortised.
Debt instruments are subsequently carried at amortised cost, using the effective interest rate method.
