## **FieldFenn Trust**

## **Report of the Trustees for the year ended 31[st] December 2022**

## **Introduction and Objectives**

The Field Fenn Trust is a registered charity, number 1111576 and is constituted under a deed dated 15[th] August 2005 and has a financial period of Jan to December.

The Trust was established to carry on the work Carol Fenn had been involved with and was passionate about prior to her death and was established by an initial gift in memory of her by Alan Fenn.

The Objectives of the Trust are

- a) To advance for the public benefit the conservation and protection of plant life and to advance the education of the public in horticulture.

- b) The provision of grants to fund Christian youth work

Since its inception the Trustees have been gradually raising the profile of the trust and increased the number of trustees just before the pandemic to be able to move forward on a wider and stronger basis.

It was however only in 2022 that we were able to start to see the benefits as people started to overcome from Covid and its constraints.

The trustees meet at least twice a year to review the progress of the Trust and consider grant applications and fund raising and management and also deal with matters as they arise.

## **Achievements**

2022 saw us organise a garden party to thank our supporters and to promote the future activities of the Trust which include support for children’s educational facilities at Great Dixter, a grant to a community gardening organisation as well as grant to an individual studying at Oak Hill college and it is out aim to widen our activities during 2023.

## **Financial Review**

The Trust’s work is entirely reliant on donation income from supporters within the UK as we do not work with professional fundraisers nor receive funds from local authorities. No trustees received payments or benefits for providing their services other than legitimate expenses.

Following the reduction in our grant giving due to the pandemic we are pleased to have been able this year to increase grants to our highest level.

The financial position at the end of 2022 is strong as indicated in the yearly accounts. These have been examined independently and are included at Appendix A of this report.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**
