In addition, ad-hoc fund-raising events are organised by individual members, usually in and around where they live. All the Trustees are volunteers who give their time and expertise freely. - policy on grant making. - policy programme related investment. All challengers and support personnel pay for their own expenses and the associated costs of running the charity and individual events. - contribution made by volunteers. **TAR** 3 June 2024 ## Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** We commenced 2023 with £8,969 as a good base to start a campaign to raise a challenging £50,000 to purchase a Logiq Fortis Radiology Ultrasound Scanner for the Leicester Hospitals Charity Group. Our chosen challenge was to walk 24 miles in the beautiful Peak District Starting at Ladybower Reservoir, walking along the River Derwent to Hope Valley and into Castleton, where we then climbed Cave Dale and Mam Tor, before crossing the Great Ridge and returning to Ladybower. 55 individuals took part in the challenge, raising £26,447. The annual netball tournament was also able to be successfully held raising £2,816 thanks to the local community participating in a sociable and fun day. In addition, throughout the year, other fundraising activities were organised by supporters of Brown Dog and donations were also received. Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to the following: - a management team from BT who raised c£4k - Donations from Mattioli Woods, Next and Saffron Catering totalling c£5.5k - An individual who donated c£1k on our behalf. - Those individuals who support Brown Dog throughout the year with one-off donations, regular donations or utilising the Amazon “Smile”, “Charitable Giving” and “Give As You Earn” schemes. The year ended (in December) with the purchase of the “scanner” for the Leicester Hospitals Charity at a cost of £47,198.
