Chairman’s Report

This Annual Report shows the activities of the Ministry worldwide. I gratefully acknowledge the support of everyone who has contributed in many ways to developing the Vision. The pandemic has had a knock – on effect. Thankfully our ability to continue to worship in person proved very valuable in meeting people`s needs following the lockdowns.

We continued with all our activities and were able to sustain pastoral care, teaching and cover all our activities in prayer. We have seen growth and powerful testimonies to the power of God to overcome in faithful lives.

We are always looking for new ways to develop our Charity Objectives, Young Endeavour was a new Vision and it has helped offer a platform for young people to experience God and His people in new ways. We started monthly breakfasts before Sunday Services to show God cares about our physical as well as spiritual needs.

I am grateful for every opportunity given and taken by those who faithfully believe and are used by God for His Glory.

Objective 1

Children’s Endeavour Ministries

Sunday Bible School (SBS)

Our Theme for this year was “ Children are Special to God”, they are unique and can have their own relationship with Him. We looked at how babies grow up to be something very powerful for God.

We involve the parents in how their children are progressing. Here is a Parent’s Testimony.

As a parent I have seen the benefits of SBS in Caleb’s life. He has shown interest, interacts and has a good memory of the teachings. There has been a progression in teaching allowing the children to understand how they need to be thankful, grateful, not to be jealous of other children and understand how special they are to God and how to follow instructions. I have seen a balance of teaching in theory, visual as well as being creative. The repetition of teaching helps the children to retain as well as remember. It is encouraging to see how Caleb interacts with other children when they come and visit. I will continue to pray as a parent for God to bring more children and I am grateful that Uganda has started with us again.

It is a blessing to be in the class with the children. I am grateful to have opportunities to bring teaching and assist because children are special to God. I have learnt to be very attentive to children’s needs and hear from God for them. I am learning to understand how to engage with visiting children that come to the Ministry. I understand that the vision is to help them be confident to know God in their lives and set a foundation for them that they grow to accept God into their lives.

Sis Tessa Umezurike

We welcome all children to join us and to establish the Children’s Endeavour Ministries and the Vision of Sunday Bible School for future generations.

Objective 1

Young Endeavour Ministries

Monthly meetings of young people from 14 years+ have been held. Meetings are a mixture of activities and teaching to help them as they grow and meet new challenges in the world. They have Line Danced, played Charades, learned a new dance, put together plays and acted them out. Teachings have included truth, partnerships in the Bible, trust and how the Bible is relevant to us today.

Very Rev Alison Trethewy

When we first heard about Young Endeavour, we were not sure what it would entail. Prophetess told us that there would be regular meetings for the young people of the Ministry. We enjoy playing games like quizzes and Pictionary. It’s good to come together to take part in these fun activities. We’ve been given Scriptures and scenarios from the Bible to work together to present dramas that we have created and performed to each other. It really does help us to understand the Scriptures by acting it out.

We have also had to be very creative when asked to tell stories using a simple subject. It was important that our stories had a moral, so this demonstrated how we are developing our life skills. Telling these stories to each other, gives you a confidence boost.

Endeavour held in the church building, is a place for young people to go after school.

We really look forward to meeting together. It’s a fun time!

Endeavour Ministries is very fun, and we have all learned lots of things like how to take care of ourselves and how to manage friendships.

Isaiah, John and Sarai (Young Endeavours)

International Vacation Bible School

A Vacation Bible School was held in London in August 2021 over 2 weeks.

Theme – ‘How to make great choices for your life.’ We were able to introduce the children to our children in Uganda, via zoom, so this was a truly international Vacation Bible School. Together they participated in daily teachings and singing and thoroughly enjoyed their time together. They learned new songs which they sang together and learned a few Ugandan words. It was a joy to see their enthusiasm to be together and to learn from diverse cultures.

We had a consistent number of community children, most of whom had been dedicated as babies in our Ministry. This regular contact with the children, parents and their families gives them experience of God’s love through the activities and through us.

Very Rev Alison Trethewy

Objective 1

Teaching in the Ministry

Teaching of the Doctrines

Power of the Living Word Ministries International have reintroduced the Doctrine series.

Beginning with the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit – October 2021

The Doctrine of Man – December 2021

The Doctrine of Salvation – March 2022

Doctrine means ‘What has God have to say?’

The Doctrine teachings are open to the entire congregation on a Friday or Wednesday evening. Starting in a classroom session followed by breaking into two groups to discuss what have you heard that evening and pick two things you have heard and share. The group sessions are a major part of the sittings to ensure the hearers comprehend, grasp the process to get to understanding of what has been taught to them. Special thanks to the facilitators Prophetess Alison and Rev Pamela.

Rev Pamela Dickenson

Teacher Training

I felt an awesome privilege and weight to be trained on how to teach. It is an art and a skill to be able to give knowledge to others, to keep them engaged and wanting to receive from you and these are the capabilities to shape the life of another that a teacher has. I received an understanding of the gifts a teacher should have and how to employ them to skilfully teach anyone who sits before me whether they be old or young, learned or not. It has given me an excitement and respect for the teachers we already have but also the determination to prove what I have learnt by teaching others. There is a future in which I can share the knowledge I have and teach others the Gospel of Christ, so it is exciting to look forward to being the next generation of teachers. It has taught me the dedication and commitment needed to be a teacher, it’s not easy but the transformation of lives before your eyes shows God is still very present.

Sis Rhianna Davis

7

Objective 1

Discipleship in Action

Discipleship in Action this year for me was very special. The training I received was delivered in such a powerful and direct way that could be actioned in my life.

We had exercises and challenges that informed us as trainees and also gave us practical ways to do the things we are called to do.

It was particularly special for me that we received one to one training in writing sermons and exhortations with the Apostle and our Pastors.

Discipleship in Action was intense training but rewarding at the same time.

As a trainee, learning that Christ being the ultimate Shepherd that I was to translate and mimic in my own life as a Minister, has been the greatest lesson I took away with me.

Sis Nakessa Simpson

The Institute For Life

This course on the Gospel of John has certainly caused the Bible to come alive for me. The substance and depth of the teaching has seriously challenged and stretched me, which is a good thing. It has greatly increased my comprehension and understanding of the message of the Gospel of John.

I have also appreciated the other students in the class who through their regular participation in the classes, have helped to create a great environment for learning. Meeting with the other students in this learning environment has become a highlight of my week.

As a Minister with a speaking ministry, it is vital to be doctrinally correct, I appreciate the sound Scriptural knowledge I have gained from the Gospel of John.

My very great appreciation for our senior teacher, who teaches 2 very diverse groups of students on the same day, morning and night, including international students plumbing in on zoom.

The Vision includes the confident communication of our faith based on correct doctrinal teaching, as a student of IFL I am determined to graduate and make my contribution to the Vision to teach others what I have been taught.

Minister Seymour Francis

Ecumenical Activities

We have remained members of Churches Together in Clapham (CTiC) and Churches Together in Clapham Park (CTICP) attending meetings and working together to demonstrate the unity of the Church. We are also a member of the Ixthus Christian Church under Archbishop Evangelou.

Objective 1

International Pastors’ Prayer

International Pastors’ Prayer is the coming together of Pastors from our covering churches to pray with Apostle Donnett accompanied by her UK Pastors.

From India – Pastor Emmanuel and Sister Beulah From Kenya – Bishop Paul, Evangelist George, Pastor Chris and Pastor Edwin From Uganda – Sister Gabriella

From Tanzania – Bishop Kissi

From UK – Apostle, Prophetess Alison, Pastor Chidi, Pastor Helen, Elder Colin and Pastor Pamela (host)

Prayer together has been consistent since 20[th] June 2020 to date and has been found to be a God send to all Pastors especially during the Covid pandemic when borders had been closed to the Apostle, preventing her missionary visits to the covering churches in Kenya and India.

Having this prayer forum on zoom has been an important tool to keep Apostle connected to the Pastors of the covering churches abroad and for all Pastors, including UK, to pray together. What better way to bond but in prayer. The Ministry has found during missionary journeys that Pastors and their families need support and need regular teaching to support them building their congregations.

The prayer forum had included members from all Pastors’ ministerial team to attend prayer meetings which they have found a benefit to their spiritual growth when encouraged to participate in the prayers, hearing exposits from the Bible, words of encouragement, requests for prayers supported, prophesy and a prophetic word.

The International Pastors Prayer is truly a part of the arm of True Redemption Apostolic Network (TRAN). In July 2021 we hosted an International Sunday Service in St Stephen’s church connecting our covering churches in India, Kenya and Uganda via zoom with all churches taking part with their congregations.

God will open a door in these nations for TRAN and these men and women of God will be ready to move upon God’s command. Ready because we are being prepared to work together as one Body.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Rev Pamela Dickenson

Objective 2

International Activities – Borders Opened

On 18[th] February 2022, storm Eunice arrived in force. Apostle Donnett and I were in a plane at the end of Heathrow runway. The wings of other planes swayed in the wind. The pilot told us the wind had increased, it was not safe to take-off, the wind had to calm or change direction and that seemed unlikely. We prayed for God to act. Suddenly, the pilot said, ‘We are taking off now, everyone sits down’. In 10 minutes we were airborne, thanking God.

The True Redemption Apostolic Network (TRAN) meeting held in the Luke Hotel, Nairobi on Saturday 19[th] February was excellent. Rev George Ngalo (Pool of Siloam) asked,’ Do you really Know God?’; Bishop Paul Makau (Jesus Christ Army Ministries) asked, ‘Are you ready for the Rapture?’; Apostle Donnett taught, ‘What does God demand of you’; and Prophetess Alison ended with God asking Kenyans to change their thinking from being receivers to givers who invest in the Kingdom of God.

Rev Chidi Umezurike, TRAN Chair UK joined us via zoom with Rev Helen Smith, Rev Pamela Dickenson and Elder Colin Thomas. It was a powerful reminder that God speaks through His anointed vessels to teach and change lives for His kingdom all over the world.

On Sunday 20[th] Apostle Donnett ordained 2 Ministers and 2 Deacons at the Pool of Siloam Church in Nairobi. The Five-fold Apostolic Team worked seamlessly together, confident in each other’s anointing, no task was too small to ensure the service and video on zoom enabled everyone to be a part of this day. The anointing flowed in great power upon the ordinands. The Church celebrated with great happiness as these faithful servants of God took their first step into Ministry. Tears were shed in London who joined us via zoom for the Pastors ordination.

Arriving at the Mission Home in Mombasa on Tuesday 22[nd] , after 2.25 years away, was demanding. The generator had stopped working, a workman repaired it.

Mission homes need good maintenance. Pastors come to seek Apostle’s counsel or bring people needing help from the Apostle. This important place has changed lives and Ministries for the better.

We visited Christ Visitation Centre over the next week.

The Church had gone through much, their premises had been snatched from them by a rogue landlord, they had to find new premises to worship in etc. It was so ‘sad’, we saw the Pastor’s concern. The congregation were grateful for Apostle’s visit because she raised their spirits. Apostle installed Pastor Catherine Odhiambo as the Assistant Pastor of the Church. Rev Chris Odhiambo introduced his new Ministers-in-training to the Apostle over lunch at the Jambo Hotel. Prophetess Alison ministered at CVC lunchtime meetings for two days.

On 3[rd] March, we ministered at Berean Bible Church where the young people of the Church surprised Apostle with a belated birthday celebration.

On Sunday 5[th] March we ministered at a CVC Aldina Branch where God showed His power by opening blind eyes. Apostle preached and then we left for the airport, thanking God the airport was open and His work could continue.

Very Rev Alison Trethewy

Objective 2

Precious Years

Our Precious Years 50+ Club is in its 16th year and the work and Vision continue to move forward. Numbers fluctuated during the pandemic, but we continued to meet.

We celebrated special birthdays of 3 members this year.

We keep in contact with those who cannot come out with regular telephone calls so that they know the Ministry are still thinking of them.

We offer friendship and provide Holistic Care for those wanting a place to chat and visit and to help them to be mentally stimulated.

I thank those who volunteer their time and care to support the faithful members of Precious Years and it is a great fellowship to learn new skills while being together especially after the Pandemic.

Objective 2

Women’s Health

The Menopause is a natural process which occurs in every woman’s life. A woman’s menopause is said to have occurred when her last menstrual period was one year ago. After this date she is considered post – menopausal. (Menopausal symptoms often occur in the months or years leading up to a woman’s final period. This time is often referred as the perimenopause).

In our Ministry we have had the privilege of learning and being more informed about the menopause. (This is ongoing). It is about raising awareness and being knowledgeable about this very important change. With this awareness and knowledge, women are being equipped to manage any troubling symptoms and reduce any risks of long term health problems after the menopause. It is also about getting the right help, at the time, from the right people and making use of all the best available resources.

This time of learning is not only for the women of the Ministry, but for the men. Husbands need to know, fathers, and other family members. During this time of preparation for the sessions, I have learnt a tremendous amount, especially about what is current and up to date pertaining to the menopause and how women can be helped. The information and knowledge gained is being shared. By raising awareness, even how it should be in the workplace, there are those who have gone back to their places of work, made enquiries as to what is available, and they are benefitting. As well as all of this - prayer, prayer, prayer,

It must never be forgotten that when God created us, our bodies were designed to go through the menopause. Psalm 139 : V 14 a states : “ I will praise thee: for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” The Bible mentions the menopause. Genesis 18: V 11b states “And it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.” God desires us to go through these changes, embrace them , and continue to live fulfilled lives.

By raising awareness and equipping , it means that when the younger women reach the age / time of menopause, they will have been adequately prepared and will continue to live healthy fulfilling lives. It is hoped that they will have passed this knowledge to the next generation.

For the vision of the Ministry, those in Ministry will flow, function and minister unhindered. Also, that the Ministry will be a source and resource for helping others to be adequately equipped, not only in their own lives, but in the lives of their families, and in their communities. Going forward it Is hoped that this equipping and educating can continue through the Women’s Ministry and TRAN. (Even through a team of trainers).

To our Senior Pastor: Rt. Rev, Apostle, Dr. Donnett Thomas, Honorary Ecumenical Canon of Southwark Cathedral, we say thank you.

Elder Beryl Walcott

Objective 3

Anointed Dance

Anointed Dance was not very easily understood. My beginnings were extremely tough. When I was given the opportunity to minister in dance within a team of other dancers to 'BREAK EVERY CHAIN - by Natasha Cobbs', I was still not understanding that God was and is in charge of our entire walk with Him. I say this because back then I still thought I was the decision maker of my own life, for it has always been that way for as long as l can remember.

All dancers were required to wear a golden mask which covered every part of the face, apart from the eyes. I made every excuse that I possibly could, one of which I said, 'I couldn't wear it like this because I couldn't breathe very well underneath it.’ The day before the Sunday we were to minister in dance during our Sunday Service, I stayed up all night creating a new mask. I completely removed the lower part leaving only the covering of the eyes. The following day I was told if any dancers couldn't be one of the same, then they would not be allowed to dance.

This was the first dance my sister came to watch and support me. I really wanted to do this dance so very much, even though I was still a bit disappointed that I made the new mask and could not wear it. However, I came to realise that it was never about me wearing the new mask. God wanted me to be a part of and did not want me to feel I was not part of the newness he has pre-destined for each of us individually and co-operatively. Not only did God start the process of breaking the physical chains, but also the spiritual chains from my life within that one dance of which I was willing to do. In addition, because I was obedient to His instruction, God made a way to minister to my sister and opened the heart of His house to embrace her.

I felt being a part of Anointed Dance has given me a sense of worth, a sense of belonging and that my contribution to His house is much appreciated. I have received an understanding that Anointed Dance is not a performance, for it has a deeper meaning. When I was given the opportunity to dance on my own, I began to recognise that it was unto Him that I should and must worship Him alone, which then allows His awesome power to be elevated through me. It has helped me to worship Him, to give Him gratitude and it allows that inner confidence which has been shunned by others causing a pattern of suppression for many years, to come out, as I totally rely on Him.

What it means for my future? He is working in me and through me allowing me to face obstacles and any challenges that I am faced with, because He is in control of everything, in every situation and He has the final say. When man says no, He says yes and its never what man says but it's what God says. By sharing and ministering through dance to others, it demonstrates that I am doing what God wants and has for me to do. It also shows that I am willing whole-heartedly to be a servant of God.

Taking that step into a complete and new adventure I have also discovered that practical Ministry is still just as powerful as preaching, exhortation, teaching, Ministry of Helps, when it comes to drawing and helping people from various walks of life to multiply God's Kingdom.

Objective 3

Other Activities

Creative day

Creative Ministry has become so much more this year. We have gone from just a Creative Day to regular evenings of creative expression and learning new techniques. We have explored batik, printing and clay work. We look forward to having more and also for each of us to be able to the use the techniques we have learnt to express ourselves at home.

Prayer Garden

This year we have launched a prayer garden at my home. It was a Vision God had given me as I recovered from surgery a few years ago. The garden has brought me peace and intimate moments with The Lord.

I want to extend the same experience to others who would like to find creative ways to have intimacy with Christ. The garden is developing well, with brethren we have transformed the garden into a space where you can talk and relax and introduce more plants to enjoy.

Sis Nakessa Simpson

Literacy Evening

Something we use so often in our lives that holds great power and can give life when used correctly - the words we use and how we use them. Literacy evening has shone a light on my grammar, how I construct my sentences and which words to use where. We have had lively and refreshing classes on ‘their, there and they’re’, when to use apostrophes and why does this sentence not make sense, but to name a few. These lessons have been valuable in lifting my confidence in my writing and speaking, highlighting knowledge I already had and teaching me things I didn’t know. Literacy has been fun and informative making learning accessible to all age groups and abilities. This has given me the skills I can apply in my future for exams and assignment writing both inside and outside of the ministry.

Sis Rhianna Davis

Sunday Breakfast

As Head of Hospitality, I have co-ordinated and worked with Minister Seymour in providing Breakfast for the Ministry on the first Sunday per month since April 2022. I was happy to be involved in this as I enjoy cooking and serving, I do get joy from people enjoying my food. I believe that gatherings which have food and drink involved, are always a great way of bringing people together. These ‘Breakfasts’ are giving a second opportunity (end of service refreshments being the first) for Brethren to have some time to sit, relax and talk with each other which aids in building closer relationships.

Sis Marian Atunrase

Other Activities

Sports Day & Barbeque - 2 May 2022

Great weather, lots of fun for all age groups and abilities, the egg and spoon race has never been so popular!!

A Christians Against Poverty (CAP) training was held in October/November 2021 over 3 weeks. Attendees were taught how to consider managing their finances to move them into a positive financial position. It was well received and helped people to consider new aspects of their personal budgeting and expenditure.

Very Rev Alison Trethewy CAP Coach

ON TRAC – Spiritual and Pastoral Care Online

This was an 8 week course and Training that I attended with Elder Beryl Walcott on Tuesday evenings. This was a free course open to people attending faith communities / groups in South London boroughs of Lewisham, Croydon, Lambeth and Southwark. We had 10 Modules designed to show Black Faith and religious groups/communities how to help members of our congregation who may be experiencing mental health difficulties. In group sessions we had an opportunity to learn about what mental health is, to meet mental health professionals, find out their role and how the mental health system works.

The course helped develop skills around listening and how to engage with and support congregation members who may be experiencing difficulties. We discussed wider issues stigma, mental health inequalities, barriers to accessing help within Black communities, and creative ways that we can work together to improve this.

This project was led by Dr Louise Codjoe, who has a strong interest and passion in improving health care inequalities and working with Black communities.

In Conclusion

Power of the Living Word Ministries International encourages and welcomes members of the community to live out their faith by providing places of worship and fellowship. It expresses the love of our Lord Jesus Christ through community outreaches and education. This report details some of the important work carried out by Power of the Living Word Ministries International which have impacted the lives of its members and partners.

It contains reports from a wide group of ‘saints’ from the youngest (aged 12) to a member of the 50+ club - an Elder of the Ministry. Power of the Living Word Ministries International proudly caters for the needs of all generations. Apostle Donnett Thomas and Elder Colin Thomas have a particular interest in children and this desire to support and impact the lives of young people in the ministry definitely shines through.

It was a pleasure to work on this report and speak with all those who have contributed.

As a Trustee I am committed to ensuring that as many people as possible attend and enjoy our worship services and all the activities and programmes that the Ministry engages in.

We look forward to the future – where we look for more innovative and God given creative ways to advance Christianity within our community and beyond.
