Chairman’s Report

The Trustee Board continues to be thankful and appreciative of Apostle Donnett’s leadership, spiritual insight and wisdom. Even more so this year, as Apostle Donnett and Elder Colin were forced to remain in Jamacia during the first lockdown. As we adapted to the restrictions of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Ministry was able to continue on zoom with Apostle Donnett’s continued oversight, guidance and contributions as our Pastors continued the work of the Ministry.

Being able to meet every Sunday on zoom and for our weekly meetings helped us be creative with how we used zoom to the benefit us all. We returned to St Stephens Church in the summer when restrictions were lifted and were able to go on our Discipleship In Action Teaching Week away in August, albeit with very great restrictions in place. We have maintained our fellowship and care for one another throughout all lockdowns. This was great achievement and I would like to thank those who quickly became experts on zoom in the Audios Visual Team.

Our International Pastors in Kenya, India and Uganda have been able to meet regularly with our Senior Pastor and Pastors here in the UK for prayer and pastoral support because we have not been able to travel to their Churches. A benefit to come out of using zoom was the ability to establish a children’s work in Uganda which grew from one child to 15 children and their parents coming for teaching locally on a Wednesday evening. We missed our local community children who were not able to join us during most of the year because of the restrictions. This is an area we will look to build up in the coming year.

This report shows that despite the world being under restrictions, curfews, lockdowns etc, the Word of God can never be restricted. We have successfully maintained what we have and we look to expand into new areas and countries as the travel restriction are lifted.

I gratefully acknowledge the leaders, members and partners who have contributed to our annual report this year and for their continued support of the Ministry during the past year. They have all contributed to what we have achieved and showed themselves faithful to God’s work. Their reports testify to the objectives that direct all that is being accomplished for the Kingdom of God.

Anniversaries

40th Anniversary of the Apostle coming to know Jesus Christ as her Saviour.

The 2 April 2021 marked 40 years of service to Almighty God for our Apostle. A powerpoint presentation on her journey of faith included: sickness, awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity; faithful service in another Vision; being released with her own Vision and establishing a Ministry; a stroke; consecration as an Apostle by Apostle R Williams in Houston, Texas; establishing the Institute for Life; consecration as a Bishop under the International Ministerial Council of Great Britain, the first black woman Bishop as Chair of Churches Together in South London; developing mission work in Churches in Kenya, India and Uganda; becoming an Honorary Ecumenical Canon of Southwark Cathedral; consecrating her first Bishop in Kenya; and developing young people to continue the work in the Ministry. We honour your journey Apostle and are blessed to serve in the Kingdom of God with you.

20[th] Anniverary of the Ministry

On 24[th] January 2021, we celebrated 20 years of the Vision given to our Apostle. Our journey started as WOW Ministries and changed in 2008 to Power of the Living Word Ministries International. A Worship Centre has been established in St Stephen’s Church, and we are now the worshipping community in Clapham Park. The occasion was marked by a powerpoint presentation on zoom, a lively occasion with many testimonies and gratitude to God for His Divine favour. Contributions came from our Covering Churches in Kenya, India and Uganda.

We look forward to where God will send us next as we develop the saints of God for His work worldwide.

Reflections

This past year had has its ups and downs as we lived with restrictions in every area of our lives. It was difficult not to be able to give personal pastoral care to our members and to meet each other for fellowship on a regular basis. The lockdowns brought out people’s fears and made some isolated, others designated as clinically vulnerable (never having considered themselves that before) while others were working hard on the frontline providing NHS services, transport services, pharmacy services, and other essential aspects of our lives. We are grateful to use St Stephens’s Church, so we were able to return to worship services with Covid requirements dominating how we met, worshipped and conducted our services. We understood our responsibilities to each other and ensured we were careful with contacts and remained in the ‘Bubbles’, we lived within.

Many members were affected by extra or different work and tirelessly gave all they had to protect and care for the vulnerable and those shut in. We shopped and brought medicines to those unable to venture out and the doorstep became a source of conversation and hope albeit with distance between people. We checked on neighbours and offered any support they needed. Others worked in the NHS, some with no PPE at the start, bringing comfort and care wherever they could. It was a difficult time and everyone did what they could for the benefit of others.

Prayer was an important response we could give and many asked for prayers for sick relatives and their families. We supported families who could not travel abroad to attend funerals of loved ones and those in London who had funerals to attend.

The joy was seeing answers to prayers, healings and some people coming to Church and seeing the power of God answer their prayers. God was evident to those who turned to Him and we saw many life changing answers to prayers. Lives that would look back and be grateful that they were able to come into the House of God and bring their situation to God and He would act on their behalf.

With our Apostle and Elder grounded in Jamaica for six months, we were able to continue caring and uplifting one another through zoom. We were able to support them in Jamaica and they were very much part of what we were doing in London, Kenya, Uganda and India. We appreciate our Apostle for the teaching she has given us as Leaders so we could maintain our presence in Clapham Park and continue the work of the Kingdom of God.

It has been a different year but members and partners pulled together to provide a place where God showed His power, grace and love in so many different ways. No one needed to be alone, we rescued young minds from isolation and the impact on their mental wellbeing and ensured we met regularly for those who wanted to find hope when they could not see it.

Objective 1

Zoom Development to Audio Visual Team (AVT)

We began this year very differently from the last, having to be on Zoom for our ministry services did not hamper our worship. We were able to come together virtually but still were able to be ministered to spiritually. From what started as just UK members of the ministry joining for our Sunday worship services, we swiftly moved on to us being taught internationally during the week, while our teacher was overseas and our international Pastors being able to attend our services all without having to get on a plane. There has been a forward move in having this opportunity to meet online and fellowship with believers. With the growth of our team we have been able progress from a PA team to an audio-visual team which encompasses more people and areas to work in, as it started with just one person responsible for the organising of the meetings and recordings to many working together in symphony. When we returned to the church building, we found that

there was still a space for the Audio-visual team to work and grow more by taking on the recording of the services and even have continued attendance of our international members to our services via zoom. We have seen the growth of not only our own spiritual lives but also of the fellowship of members. We

have seen the international growth of our ministry by being able to hold international prayers with our Pastors abroad and in the UK. There is no limit to the work God can do and this has been an effective tool for God to use.

Objective 1

Sunday Bible School

Sunday Bible School has been developing with the establishment of children’s work in Uganda, and the highlight of the children's lives in Uganda is SBS. The 8-13 year olds enjoyed interactive and energetic biblical lessons over zoom twice a week with a midweek session on a Tuesday and their very own session on zoom on Sundays. The children engaged in learning how to hear God’s voice and distinguish who's voice they were listening to through the creation story. Children enjoyed discussion, games and written assignments such as poetry, story writing and exhortations on what they had learnt. This was welcomed by parents.

During the first lockdown we held Tuesday Bible School on zoom to keep in contact with our children. We discussed their fears ( resulting from the pandemic) and used the story of Daniel in the Lions Den, read Psalm 56 and sang our favourite songs. The children aged 5 - 9 years were asked to write a journal to record their thoughts and fears by drawing and any prayers which they could keep or share with their parents. ‘Dear diary this happened or this is how I am feeling’. A puppet beaver visited, spoke and shared.

It was a blessing to learn in different ways and be together.

This was important to pray and continue the Generations of Life during the lockdown.

Sunday Bible School with the younger children taught them many new things. Most of the year was on zoom and our children entered into this new teaching environment very well. ‘I have learnt to obey my elders, to pray with boldness,, to sing and dance because every Sunday our teachers dance and sing with us’. Testimony from a child aged 5 in Uganda. She also says ‘I feel so happy to be friends with new SBS children from London because my English has improved because of my teachers. I feel so good when I put into practise what my teachers taught me and other children copying my ways’. Her mother says ‘I am seeing them grow up in Godly way and this is a plus to me’. Although this was a challenging year we have seen changes in the children and their great willingness to participate in the teaching and the assignments set. Thanks to all the teachers for their constant commitment to all the children.

Objective 1

Teaching in the Ministry

The Ministry has been consistent in providing teaching even through the Lockdown period. The Ministry objective for the advancement of Christianity was unhampered by the Lockdown and Pandemic, with a great deal of teaching being provided by Apostle Donnett with her classes. The Apostle started the teaching on Spiritual Warfare whilst in Jamaica, via Zoom in early 2020 and continued on her return to the UK. This was followed by ‘Angelogy’ and then by “Holiness is our Goal”. We also saw a change to the day we hold our equipping the Saints from Wednesdays to Fridays, which has been a welcome development.

The teaching by Apostle to the Ministers in training (formerly Call to Ministry) has also been maintained and other ordained Ministers such as Elder Beryl, have taught the trainee ministers. The Apostle also gave us a teaching on Team Building which helped us see the value and worth in one another on the Teams we work within.

On 15[th] April 2021, the Institute For Life (IFL) recommenced with two classes a week by Apostle on The Pentateuch. There has been a remarkable growth as we now have international students attending from two different continents i.e Asia (India) and Africa (Uganda) via Zoom.

The Hour in the Word recommenced in the Church in early 2021 with a teaching by Prophetess Alison on The Book of Nahum.

We continue by God’s Grace to equip and perfect the Saints through teaching. The commitment and dedication of our Apostle and her teaching Team to provide very in-depth Spiritual teaching has been a blessing to many especially through an unprecedented and trying period globally. The depth of teaching has truly been inspiring.

Pastor Chidi Umezurike

Discipleship In Action

We were blessed when we were able to go to Devere Estate, Old Windsor for our Discipleship in Action teaching week away in August 2021. The restrictions from the pandemic made this an interesting time, where we learned to be isolated from other guests and eat our breakfast in our rooms and other meals out of cardboard boxes.

The teaching was precise and powerful, showing us that being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a great calling and God provides spiritually for His work. We are to measure ourselves to the Holy Spirit and live lives that are pure and Holy to be in service to God. We had a ‘Tiny Disciples’, who enjoyed many activities, games and play and they gave us a great presentation on what they had learned.

Although not an easy week, because of the necessary Covid restrictions we give thanks we were able to meet between lockdowns.

Objective 1

The Institute for Life

The Module on Church History

All students are empowered by the quality of teachings delivered to them, by their tutors who are the best for the kingdom of God. They bring into the arena teachings, they have understood themselves, because they themselves are students of the Institute. The teachings are on par to what is relevant for today's believers in Christ. Students of the institute will gain a depth of knowledge that is inspirational, and refreshing; the teaching is gathered from a multidisciplinary approach to information. The teachings are doctrinal truths, being tremendously sound since they come from a theological standpoint. It's structured to bring students to high levels of comprehension, enabling them to reason and deliver the knowledge that has been taught. As students, you will surprise yourself in what you can achieve. If you are aged in education, or fresh from education, without a shadow of a doubt, all needs are catered for at the Institute of Life.

It's great when you can link scripture to some aspect of events or vice versa as we look into understanding what caused aspects of the traditions, culture, ethics. i.e. (Easter) and the consequences. This gives you a 3D spiritual aspect, from historical, social, demographic, political level, of the powers at play in those days. You will see how God is calculating and specific in what He does. The view you get will enable you to zoom in and out of the different scenarios of the time frame. Therefore, enabling you to see the implications of the past actions, responses to the said time that's affected present action for us today. Therefore, this contributes in furnishing and facilitating our vibrant discussion about our Church in class. The amazing thing is you get to see the hand of God at work, raising up a man, or woman into a prominent position and steering them and the current climate of the day for His outcome. You get a connoisseur's guide of the various ecumenical councils, seven in total from AD 325 until AD 787, the two Schisms (divisions of the Church), how development of printing, literacy, various translations of the bible, establishment of monasteries, various crusades and much more changed Christianity for the masses. I would say when we look at Church History, the positive outweighs the negative, because God is still in control.

Objective 1

International Pastors’ Prayer

International Pastors’ Prayer meeting was birthed in 2020 on the platform zoom. The Ministry had been using zoom for services and meetings and occasionally our Covering Churches attended.

A Whatsapp group was created as a means to communicate with all International Pastors, Bishops and Ministers as a tool to announce prayer meetings, share messages and words of encouragement as a benefit to International Ministers under the Apostle’s Covering.

The first meeting was held on 20[th] June 2020. Pastors and Ministers from the UK, India, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda met together for one hour of prayer. The very different time zones were not a barrier, the time differences with the UK are, India 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 3 hours ahead.

A Pastor shared a word of encouragement each time we met. On 27[th] February 2021 Bishop Paul Makau delivered a word ‘The importance of spiritual agreement’ taken from Daniel 3 v 1718. Servants living and operating in the Kingdom must agree, our focus is to agree and unify to become one body a model for True Redemption Apostolic Network.

We have heard from Pastor George from Pool of Siloam, Nairobi. Pastor Immanuel from The Thundalum Evangelical Church, Chennai, India. Pastor Chidi and Prophetess Alison, from the Headquarters Church in London.

We have seen the power of the Lord at work during every meeting. Internet connections have occasionally let Pastors down but we continued to encourage all to be together for this short time. These Prayer meetings have helped maintain good international relationships and we have supported one another across the world. I truly believe these Prayer meetings have identified Power of the Living Word Ministries International Covering Churches, five-fold ministers and those with a heart for mission and True Redemption Apostolic Network.

Objective 2

International

Our work has continued via zoom and we have seen a new development in Uganda. A young widow and her 6 year old daughter have been the nucleus for a profound new work. She has written:_

‘My trust and faith in God has strengthened. Been taught the WORD and I have learnt also how to apply the word of God in my daily life. I joined the church when I was giving up on life, felt worthless, but the love I received from the church, the members, the leaders, the overseer of the Ministry made me to believe in myself again and to know that I am special before the Lord. I have received power of GOD right in my house and been delivered from the spirit of self-pity, oppression and been healed of fibroids and intense malaria. I testify the love from the Church who have supported us here financially, stepped in paid my and my daughters medical bills, supported us emotionally, spiritually, physically, dressed my daughter. I bless GOD for giving me another family, the church.

I never knew such can happen, Power of the Living Word Ministries has supported the organisation I ran here for older persons and orphaned children 3 - 24 years every quarter’.

We have also continued our support in India where a Vacation Bible School was held on the roof of a home.It was well supported and the children enjoyed being together.

INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF INSTITUTE FOR LIFE

We offered the Institute for Life, studying the Module on the Pentateuch to our International Pastors. We are delighted that students from India and Uganda are now studying with students from London together on a Thursday morning. This has added to the learning experience for all concerned as the teaching relates to the cultures in both Uganda and India.

We have also maintaned our Mission Home in Mombasa and the two Kenyans who work there. We have provided financial and spiritual support to Pastors in Mombasa.A Pastor preached for us on zoom in our Sunday service and others have danced and contributed to our worship together. Zoom has united the Churches under the Apostle’s Covering in profound ways.

11

Objective 2

Precious Years

Our Precious Years 50+ club is now in its 15[th] year and the work continues to move forward.

Regular telephone calls to keep in touch with our members who cannot come out during the pandemic has been a welcomed and a much appreciated way of us reminding our members we are still thinking of them.

One of our new members, a 95 year old lady who was brought by her daughter really enjoyed her visits and commented on how much she enjoyed the friendship shared and chats together. Her family thanked us for providing a safe and caring environment where they could bring their mother and hope to return when lockdown is lifted.

We thank those who support this work with their prayers and those who have been able to give of their time in volunteering to help care for and cook for our members.

We are delighted that one of our volunteers who has been faithful in their support of precious years members, has during the year found full time employment.

Rev Helen Smith

12

Objective 2

Partners

I do remember the day that I was asked to be a partner at Power of the Living Word Ministries. At that time, I was not exactly sure what this meant or how I would have an important part to play in the body of Christ. There was shift in the air/ the atmosphere was truly exciting and all the Partners were thrilled about this ‘new’ link with the Ministry. I knew that being a Partner would bring great rewards and be established alongside the other important and essential departments within the Ministry.

As soon as I accepted the ‘right hand of fellowship’ from Bishop Donnett Thomas I felt an inner change in my spirit which has enabled me to grow in confidence and establish myself (alongside other partners) as an important group of dedicated Partners of the Ministry.

Partnership to me means a collaboration – a collaboration of the spirit, mind and body to move and to make a difference. All Partners were given a unique opportunity to establish the role within the Ministry and to bring a fuller understanding of just what the role means.

Partners have been fully involved in the ‘working’ of the Ministry. During lockdown when we were confined to our homes, partners were still able to engage in Ministry Activities. Being a Partner means that you are able to let your Gifts Shine, like the brightest fluorescent star in the sky, and demonstrate your Love of the Lord through deeds and actions which result in change.

As a partner, I can honestly say that it has been a privilege and an inspiration to be a part of a ministry of growth and opportunities. Partners are welcomed and feel like they are able to make a difference in the life of others so in turn producing growth in themselves. From exhortations to leading workshops at Creative Day, Partners in the church have shown their commitment to fellowship collaboration and service to further develop and enhance their Christian life.

The Ministry has been a great advocate for the role of the Partners, who are able to take part in many events (which many would say) are for the Members only. Being a Partner or a Member – there is a clear distinction but being a Partner is the Ministry – has enable Partners to grow in the Faith and enabled the Church to grow in its commitment to changing lives.

Objective 3

Personal stewardship or personal housekeeping

On Friday 29th January 2021, Very Rev Alison spoke to us on personal stewardship or personal housekeeping, sincerely, let me explain to those who missed it. We went through the processes of Wills, yes, Wills and how to go about making our decisions and things we need to avoid when making our Will, or pointers in helping others. She highlighted key responsibility and relationships of the following: the role of Executors, the roles of witnesses, and touching on HM Revenue and Customs, and the Department of Works and Pension. This was fully packed with information. It was free flowing, we were able to ask questions, it was very engaging, and we had a clearer picture of how to proceed and what we needed to put in place. We had a wealth of experience from those who contributed as well, care and concerns which needed spiritual guidance, this came in the advice on how we should practice putting key documents in a safe place, and informing those who need to know where things are kept. This helps eliminate a lot of heartache and distress for those who are left to address the tasks at hand. I would say definitely a bar had been raised that night, I felt that others were genuinely taking note of the knowledge they were receiving.

I would like to thank our Apostle Thomas for being gracious in having such a key topic discussed in the House of God. How can I forget our own Very Rev Alison, who sought out the information, knowledge and used her experience to share with us.

Bless you and thank you.

Veronica Aurelien

14

Objective 3

Book Club

Following on from our literacy classes, a book club was opened up to those interested in expanding their reading abilities and knowledge of both fiction and non-fiction topics. Discussion provides learning on how to critic a book, it’s underlying tones, to analyse the essence of the book, consider the circumstances outlined and the experiences of the characters involved. The book club provides the opportunity to look at the bigger picture, beyond the written words on the page to our own relatable experiences and how the message of the books relates to us today.

Our first book, ‘Becoming’ by Michelle Obama, is a deeply personal and courageous portrait of a woman of our time. From humble beginnings we are taken on the journey of Michelle becoming the First Lady of the United States of America.

Being born a black woman, she writes how she overcame the perspective of others, knowing what was within herself, in a way to encourage and empower others. There is no barrier in life that cannot be overcome. All are encouraged through her experiences to reach your potential within.

Our second book, , was ‘I, Saul’ by

Jerry B Jenkins with James S McDonald. Two stories run parallel as we are introduced to a professor in modern time who is drawn into a deadly race to save parchments from antiquities thieves and Apostle Paul who is in a dank Rome dungeon in AD67 recalling his life story to his friend Luke. He urges Luke to bring the parchments

of his life works and ministry to him in prison. Hidden safely from the authorities but now needed as he prepares for the end of his life, and the continuance of the gospel message and life of discipleship to future generations.

The ensuing theme of loyal friendship tested by life-or-death pursuits not only encourages believers today that it is possible to stand fast come what may, but it challenges us to be a loyal support and friend to those who, whatever the cost, bring the gospel message of Jesus Christ wherever they go. It challenges us all…will we remain standing in the midst of great persecution.

While both books appeared to be very different, the central themes for me, were the same. Reconciliation, restoration and not living your life based on the perspective of others reminds me, that nothing is impossible with God. The New Testament account of Saul’s life to the modern day record of Michelle Obama life, strengthens, inspires and reminds me to believe God and His word for my life, and that all things are possible with Him.

Objective 3

Other Activities

Creative Evenings

We believe it is important to give opportunities to people to try new things and express themselves creatively. We were able to organise two Creative Evenings where members were shown how to make a face mask and then made their own; how to express themselves in a painting a still life in four different mediums; how to make tiles with clay and decorate them and how painting is a very good way to relax and do something different. Our thanks go to Sis Nakessa who brought her skills to show us what we can achieve and to Deaconess Veronica who patiently showed people who are not used to sewing that they could make a face mask and wear it the same day.

Games Evenings

We created games evenings on zoom which were very well received, very competitive and alot of fun and laughter. We learned much about each other and were able to celebrate success and good general knowledge.

Literacy Evenings

Our Literacy evenings continued with many different aspects covering reading aloud, simple sums, awareness of what you are looking at and being able to report on it at speed, creating captions for pictures and how to improve on writing English grammar. We have seen improvements and will continue to provide teaching to help in different areas.

Ecumencial Activities

We continued to be a part of the Churches Together in Clapham (CTiC) attending their Forum and Ministers meetings. It was good to hear what other Churches were going through and to offer support and prayer to other Ministers.

Our Apostle attended the Churches Together in South London (CTSL) meeting in Janaury 2021 and on zoom attended the Conference held by the Ixthus Church Council in March 2021.
