The main activities are as follows:

These activities benefit young people by developing their self-confidence and social, practical and life skills and providing opportunities for young people to become volunteers themselves. Activities are largely outdoors and are aimed at providing everyday adventure. We welcome all young people, aged between 6 and 18, regardless of personal background, faith, gender or personal circumstances

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on our programme delivery this year. Following the announcement of the national lockdown we moved to delivering activities online via the Zoom platform.

Our membership numbers remained strong however we lost some leaders who did not feel able to continue due to their work in frontline healthcare.

All the section leaders rose to the challenge of moving online. They created innovative and exciting activities which were very well received by our youth members and their parents. Throughout a very difficult period for young people, scouting activities were a vital relief.

During the summer we were able to begin meeting face to face outdoors. All sections made the most of this before further lockdowns forced us back to online activities during the winter months.

COVID restrictions prevented us running nights away activities during this period.

Our usual fundraising activities, including our annual fireworks display, were not able to take place. We received generous government support which allowed us to avoid financial problems.
