The following appointments and resignations were agreed at regular meetings of the Trustees: Matthew Hurricks resigned as Chairman of the Trustees. Julie Lacey was appointed as Chair of the Trustees. ## Achievements and Performance Prior to the discovery of Covid 19 and the subsequent lockdown in March 2020, the charity had put on all the planned events which had been, as always, successful income streams for the charity. However, following lockdown, all events had to be cancelled. Also, in accordance with Government instruction and in the interest of the safety of the very vulnerable children we support, we took the difficult decision to close Sophie’s Respite Retreat for the rest of the year. Subsequently, we provided no respite holidays during 2020. With all events cancelled, we became entirely reliant on direct donations, collection boxes and money received from individuals and companies carrying out sponsored events. ## Financial Review With the Covid restrictions continuing to strangle our income streams in the early part of the period, we relied heavily on donations and, sadly, in memoriam donations for one of our long time supporters. Funds were transferred from the reserve account to meet the funding requirements for the Rainbow Retreat and as such it was again agreed that we would not be able to support the Beads of Courage programme with the current uncertainty. If possible, we will make increased donations in the coming years. Having transferred funds from the reserve account we have again been unable to maintain the three year running reserves for Sophie’s Rainbow Retreat, however, we expect to rebuild and maintain them once the restrictions are lifted and we are able to resume our normal fundraising activities.
