The restrictions of the spread of Covid 19 throughout our regions of activity has curtailed the education and prosperity of our various charges in 2021. Even the transfer of monthly funds to support the projects has been challenged by Banks being closed in Nepal and Sri Lanka, and endless suspicion of the Indian authorities as to the motive of our transfers.
The Children’s home in Palayamkottai has been the principal recipient of funds as education has been largely performed at Home by our qualified teachers during several lockdowns.
Despite these limitations two ex-students have become married and two of the boys have found gainful employment as barber and pharmacist.
Further support for a training vet in Indonesia and food and blankets for the poor in Nepal has been possible.
We are fortunate to have contacts in several countries who are willing to distribute the goods that they have purchased locally to improve the lives of some of the poorest in their areas.
Future plans in India in 2022 will reach young girls in the Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu as we shall pay for education fees, uniforms and some food towards continuing school attendance for families who have, until now, given priority to their son’s education prospects.
