March **2012** **TAR** 2 Day to day running of the Fleecehaven Sheep Sanctuary, having due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity commission on public benefit. This includes: - Care for in excess of 130 rescued sheep; - Provision of advice to members of the public regarding the care of sheep; - Assistance with the rescue of sheep, either through taking in sheep directly or sign-posting people to and/or liaising with other rescue centres; **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** - Fundraising to assist with the running of the charity; - – Promoting welfare issues pertaining to sheep. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about: - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. March **2012** **TAR** 3 ## Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** Covid significantly impacted upon Fleecehaven during 2020 with all but one fundraising event being cancelled. However, a supporter of Fleecehaven established a Fleecehaven Fundraising group which proved to be very successful and made up for the shortfall resulting from cancelled events. Adopt-a-sheep continued to be popular with many ‘adopters’ renewing their adoptions, some for the twelfth year. At the end of 2020 the number of adoptions remained relatively stable with just in excess of 170 adopters. The number of visitors to Fleecehaven fell dramatically during 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic. From 19[th] March onwards no visitors were able to visit. A Fleecehaven Calendar was produced again to raise much needed funds. Christmas cards were not produced again as we continue adapt to environmental awareness surrounding the sending of Christmas Cards. However, a number of wintery scenes were added to our blank cards. Advice regarding care of sheep has been given to a growing number of people. Common areas of enquiry include: - the care of elderly sheep who require additional feed as grazing is no longer sufficient to sustain them; - – information regarding flock management; - advice regarding medical treatment for pet sheep; - advice on how to report a farmer who was allegedly neglecting stock; - information on the need for sheep to be shorn; - – other welfare matters pertaining to sheep. The Fleecehaven website was further developed to include greater opportunities for fundraising, eg, further development of our on-line shop. However, this remains a focus development within the coming year. Fund raising through EasyFundraising, EasySearch, Amazon Smile and Recycle4Charity continued to be promoted. More than 130 rescued sheep continued to be cared for daily throughout 2020. Although Fleecehaven continues to run at full capacity several new rescues were taken in including a lamb found emaciated in a field of dead/dying sheep; two lambs rescued from poor conditions and destined for slaughter; and two ewes rescued with their lambs, two of which were blind.
