Church report during the dedication of the temple on 3[rd] June 2023.
By the special grace of God, the church, Faith House Ministries, was officially inaugurated on the 15th of August 2004 at the Mills’ residence, no. 4 Sheppey Road Dagenham. A few dedicated men and women of God, led at the time, by pastor John Ashun and pastor Raymond Addison were the founding members of FHM.
We recall with fondness, the dedication and commitment of families such across FHM, some of whom still remain with us.
Many more individuals and families joined us in the early days. Some of the names I am not able to recollect at the moment, but we remember them fondly for their dedication to FHM during the early days. Next year FHM will celebrate its 20[th] anniversary and we aim to complete a more detailed list of our early family and the those that the Lord graciously added onto our number during the 20 years of the church’s existence.
We also have fond memories of the pioneers who have been call to glory. This includes our brother deacon Hero Ohene Kwadade and our sisters, mama Sienti and Mrs Faustina Ashun. May their precious souls continue to rest peacefully in the bosom of Abraham.
From the first meeting at the Mill’s residence, FHM quickly established itself as a church with UK charity status. Abbey community centre and Abbey comprehensive school soon became the venues for our meetings. Whilst our prayer meetings were held at the Abbey Community centre, our Sunday worship services were at the Abbey comprehensive school.
These 2 venues remained our temporary homes for a long time. Although these venues provided adequately for our needs at the time, challenges begun to emerge. Equipments were moved from storage before every service and then placed back into storage after service. This increased the wear and tear process and the result was these equipment needed replacing often. Due to the fact that we worship at a hired hall, we sometimes found ourselves sharing the same pulpit with our Moslem neighbours. Meeting days and time had to be changed periodically due to council regulations and restrictions.
But through it all the faithfulness of God was clearly evident, the church flourished, it’s foundation was solid and remained steadfast even through a period of great upheaval when there was a change in pastoral leadership. Pastor Enoch Tettey received the mantle of leadership from pastor Ashun who at the time has answered the Macedonian call to relocate to Ghana. Under pastor Enoch’s leadership the Lord continued His faithfulness to the church and the various departments within the church grew and thrived.

A Women’s Ministries that understand the power of prayer and cause confusion in the enemy camp every time they pray especially during their annual powerhouse retreats. Women of Faith!

Faithful ushers who turn up beautifully with smiles and a helpful attitude

An outreach team which deals with evangelism and follow-ups

A financial team of dedicated men and women that keep an eye on our finances ensuring funds are raised and managed appropriately to ensure accountability to God, Charity commission and inland revenue.

Administrative team that acts as a back office, protocol, and clerical support for church programmes

A hospitality team and many more.
As our numbers grew, issues associated with not having our own place of worship became evident. Our temporary abode, which by this time was solely Abbey comprehensive, was inadequate for our needs. We needed space and needed it ASAP.
The church, FHM has a job to do. A vision to carry out and a generation to raise.
We need our own temple:
For effective communication of the gospel of Christ both within and without
Where Individuals will be challenged to live right
To provide A safe haven and adequate space for children, the youth and young adults so they can discover and develop their God given talents and abilities through planned activities and recreational events.
To provide mentorship and challenge individuals to find their purpose in life,
Support the community through charitable giving and offer quality time and space for the for retirees and the elderly.
To this end, during our 10[th] anniversary, the FHM church building fund was officially launched by our guest speaker for that anniversary, pastor Kofi Gyamfi who challenged every family in FHM to give £500 towards the project. Thereafter and for 9 years we prayed and petitioned the Lord for our own place of worship. We prayed, searched, viewed, and revised our action plan and catchment areas. Year by year we searched. The Covid pandemic and its restrictions provided more reasons for moving into our own place of worship. For a long time our search for an appropriate property produced no result. The properties we found were either too big, needed a lot of work or were in an unfavourable neighbourhood. After the lockdown restrictions were lifted, we became even more desperate. We could not go back to our former place of worship even if we wanted to. The prospect was gloomy, so we prayed. We still did not receive an answer, so we continued to pray. We know the Lord had His own agenda, so we trusted Him. At the fullness of time, the Lord visited FHM. Against all odds, the Lord provided. Suddenly and unexpectedly, 170 Bennett’s castle lane came to our attention. We rejoiced, jubilated thanking God for His faithfulness then disappointment followed. We lose our beautiful temple to another buyer. We continue to pray bringing our petition before the throne of God. Soon the decision was reversed. 170 Bennett’s castle lane came back on the market. Our chancellor, elder Mills, aided by Mrs Yolande Brown and the rest of the the financial team worked hard, the church prayed. Finally we got the mortgage. Then another battle arrived, we needed to raise the deposit needed to secure the property, our hearts
sunk as this was completely beyond our budget. Pastor Enoch sounded the charge, and said this is our church. Let us go now and take possession. Faithful men and women sacrificed huge sums of money, some were willing to support the mortgage acquisition by giving their own homes as collateral All FHM gave to ensure we secured the property. We were fearful but we prayed, there were delays with exchange so we prayed. The financial team continued their hard work, the church prayed. Pastor Enoch raised the banner of faith and challenged us to trust God, so we did and then we waited and waited and waited then finally sweet victory was here. We have our own place of worship, glory to God in the highest. The Lord has given us a reason to be joyful and thankful and today we give him every praise,
Today as we dedicate this beautiful temple called Ebenezer, we believe this far has the Lord helped us 1[st] Sam 7:12. We look back and are thankful to God for this great thing that He has done. We look forward and understand that the Lord who has brought us this far, will take us all the way.
To our sister churches who have journeyed faithfully all the way with us from the very beginning we want to say this is your church too. Thanks for being part of this journey. Every prayer, every encouragement and financial support has not being in vain. May the Lord God almighty bless you and make you a thousand times greater.
