## **CHAIRS REPORT NOTABLE EVENTS OF 2023/24** 

**6th May – King Charles Coronation  – commemoration pebbles, workshops, bunting, tap dancing** 

**21st September – National u3a week – Saltburn Library** 

**30th September - Treasure Hunt  - 19 teams took part.** 

**10th October - Dementia Awareness – start of workshops and commitment to becoming dementia-friendly to help improve the lives of people affected by dementia. We have now held 3 sessions that were attended by a total of 104 SDu3a Members.**

**1st Dec - Christmas update meeting – Murder Mystery Play written by Ann Gillatt and acted out by members of the committee.** 

**8th/9th March - Valley of Light –lanterns made by members for display by Stellar Projects in Saltburn Valley Gardens 23+ members attended two workshops to make lanterns of Saltburn landmarks. These were then on display in the Saltburn Valley Gardens.**

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. and al'e
in accordance with the Charities act and Charities Accounting Slalemenl Of Recommended

a. All grants and voluntary income are accounted for gross when receivable. as long as Iliey
are capable of financial measurement.
b. All expenditure is account6d for including VAT when incurred.
¢. Transfers are made from restricted funds to unreslricled funds when grants are approved.
d. Reserves policy.. The trustees have considered the level of reserves needed in order l()
maintain the ongoing activities of the charity. The directors consider that an amount

1 Accountin Policles
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. and al'e
in accordance with the Charities act and Charities Accounting Slalemenl Of Recommended
Practice ISORPI
a. All grants and voluntary income are accounted for gross when receivable. as long as Iliey
are capable of financial measurement.
b. All expenditure is account6d for including VAT when incurred.
¢. Transfers are made from restricted funds to unreslricled funds when grants are approved.
d. Reserves policy.. The trustees have considered the level of reserves needed in order l()
maintain the ongoing activities of the charity. The directors consider that an amount
represer)ling six months running costs are advisable.
