FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025
The Trustees present their annual reporl and financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies sel oul in note 1 to the
financial slalemenls and comply with the charills Irusl deed. the Charities Act 2011 and "Accounting and Reporting
by Charities= Slalemenl of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applbcable in the UK arKI Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" (effective 1 January
201g).
Objectives and activities
The objectives of Ihe Charity are..
For the public benefil lo advance Theravada Buddhism, in particular, bul not exclusively, Ihrough leaching
and instructing the public in the Iradilions, praclices and belief5 of Theravada Buddhisn) and through Ihe
provision, Maintenan￿ and support of a leM￿e and residenlial cenlre for Bhikkhus (monks).,
To advance the education of the public in the Iradilional languages, festivals and soaal values of Thailand;
and
The provision of grants or scholarships for sludenls in financAal need living or studying in anywhere within
the area of benefit
Achievements and performance
Following the completion of the sale of the property al 77 Blake Hall Road in Wanslead and Ihe purchase of the
Sunnyside Farm in Romford, Wat BLJddharam London successfully moved lo the new piemises on 20th August
2024.
Some initial building works and enhancemenls have been carried out to transform the farm into a space more
suitable for a Thai Buddhist temple. We have been able lo hold our customary annual Festivals and also many more
new and long awaited events and ceremonies Ihal our Community was eager to allend.
Wal Buddharam London has seen a significant increase in the number and frequency of allendance. We have
welcomed new devotees from all paris of London and afar as the demand for various ceremonies has risen, ranging
from birthdays, anniversary, mourning, funerals etc.
Our monthly meditation class8s have gained traction and many devotees now join Ihe 2 days programme each lasl
weekend of the month.
The biggest achievement so far was that everylhirvJ happened in silu, removing the need to hire an exlemal hall
and reducing considerably the costs, expensesarKf efforts required.
Wp successfully applied for new currenl and deposils accounts wilh Nalwesl Bank at Ihe end of March 2025. We
gradually moved most of our operations from Triodos Bank lo benefit from a more perfoming platform with Internet
Banking and local branches.
Our volunteers
We are fortunale to have the benefil of 45 volunteers working in a range of servi￿$ including cooking and cleaning
for the temple. They are a wonderful complemenl lo our wo￿.
Public Benefit statement
The Trustees considei that they have complied with Seclion 17 of the Chanties Act 2011 with regard to the guidance
on public benefit publislied by the Charity Commission.
Financial review
The slalemenl of Financial Activities shows a r)et surplus of £105,270 {2024 £60.040) for the year and a realised
gain on disposal offreehold property of £481.120. The charity had free resetves of £24.661 (2024- £281,696) al the
end of the year.

Reserves policy
The Tiuslees consider it prudent to maintain an adequate level of unreslricled resetves lo cover Ihe Charily's
conlraclual commilmenls and provide sufficient working capital and lo accumulate funds lowards the cosls of
achieving future objeclive5 of the Charity. The unrestricied funds not designated or invested in tangible fixed assets
held by the charity are £24.661 {2024 - £281.696).
Plans for future periods
The charity plans lo use the new premises al Sunnyside Farm in Romford lo expand the range of activities 2vailable
to the community.
We have started the process of selling the property al No 10 Claughlon in East Ham. The proceeds will be used to
redeem Ihe mortgago with Triodos Bank and tho remainder of Ihe funds will be oqvailable lor fijrther improvemenls
Tequiring finance. Also some of the interest free loans can be repaid if Ihe lenders request early repayment.
The balance will be retained as reserves for future a¢tiMlies.
We are endeavouring lo raise regular monthly income in order lo sustain wilhoul using existing reseNes.
structure, governance and management
Governing document
The organisalion was established on 16th January 2005 when the conslitulion was adopted (laler amended 15th
May 2005).11 was regislered as a charity on 18th May 2005 wilh the Charity Commission {charily no. 1109531). The
organi5alion is governed by il's Constilulion which sets oul the objects and powers of the Charity and governs Ihe
actions ol the Truslees.
Recrultment and appolntment of Trustees
The Board of Trustees has the power lo appoint addilional Truslees as il considers fil lo do so. The Trustees in Ihe
Offi￿ in the year are sel oul on legal and administrative information page.
They have no beneficial inleresl in the organisalion olher than as members and hav8 absolute discretion with
regards lo investment decisions. No Trustee received remuneration during Ihe year for services to the Trust.
Organlsatlon
The Board of Trustees, administers Ihe charity. The Board meets quarterly lo review the affairs of the Charity. All
deoisions relating lo slralegy and policy are made by the Board of Truslees.

the year ended 31 March 2025.
This report is made solely lo Ihe charity's trustees, as a body. in accordance with the Charities Act 2011. My work
has been undertaken so that I might slate lo the charily s ttuslees those mallers l am required lo slate lo them in an
independent exaininer's report and for no other purpose. To Ihe fullest exlenl pennilled by law, I do not accept or
assume responsibility to anyone olher Ihan the charity and Ihe charity's Iruslees as a body, for my Independent
Examinalion, for this report, or for the opinions I have formed.

Accounting policies
1.1 Accounting convention
The financial slalemenls have been prepared in accordance with the charity's Irusl deed. the Charities Act
2011, FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applFcable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. C'FRS 102°>
and the Charilies SORP "Accounling and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Pracli
applicable to charities preparing Iheir accounts in accordance wilh the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" (effective 1 January 2019). The charily is a Public
8enefit Enlily as defined by FRS 102.
The financial slalemenls have departed from Ihe Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo
Ihe exlenl required lo provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following Ihè Statement of
Recommended Practice for charities 2pplying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Slalement of
Recnmmendod Practice which is referred to in the Regulalions bul which has since been withdrawn.
The financial slalemenls are prepared in sterling. which is the functional currency of the charity. Monelary
amounls in these finan￿al slalemenls are rounded lo the nearest £.
The financial sialemenls have been prepared under the historical ¢osl convention. The principal accounting
poliae5 adopted are sel out below.
1.2 Going concern
The Charily's Financial Statements shows a nel surplus of £105,270 (2024 - £60,040) lor the year and a
realised gain on disposal of freehold property of £481,120. The charity had free reserves of £24,661 <2024
£281,696) al the end of the year. The Iruslees are of the view Ih21 these results h3ve secured the immediate
future of the Charity for the nexl 12 10 18 months and on Ihis basis the Charity is a going concern.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unreslricled funds are availabte for use at the discrelion of the Trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives.
Reslricled funds are svbjecl lo specific condilions by donors as lo how they may be used. The purposes and
uses of Ihe reslricled funds are sel out in the notes to the financial slalements.
1.4 Income
Voluntary income including donalions, gifts and legacies that provide core funding or are of general nature are
recogriised where Iliere is enlillement. certainly ol ieceipl and the amount can be measured wilh suffiGienl
reliabilily. Such income is only deferred when..

Bank interest is included on a receipts basis.
Income Tax recoverable on donalions received is included on an acLruals basis.

1.5 Expenditure
Expendilure is recognised once there is a legal or constrltctive obligation to transfer economic benefil to a
third party. il is probable that a Iransfer of economic benefits will be required in selllement, and the amount of
the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure is classified by aclivity. The costs of each aclivily are made up of the tolal of direcl costs and
shared costs, including support costs involved in undetlaking each aclivily. Direct costs atlribulable lo a single
aclivily are allocated directly lo thal aclivily. Shared costs which conlribule lo more 11)iin one aclivily and
support costs which are not atlributable to a single aclivily are apportioned belween those aclivilies on 2 basis
consislenl with the use of resources. Cenlral staff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent, and
deprecialion charges are allocated on the portion of Ihe asset's use.
Allocation of support costs
Support costs are those functions Ihal assisl Ihe work ol Ihe charity but do nol directly undertake diarilable
aclivilies. Support costs include back office cosls. finance and adminislrdlion personnel and governance costs
which support the Trust's programmes and aclivilies. These cos15 have been allocated between cost of raising
funds and expendilure on charilable activities in proportion of direcl cL)sls.
1.6 Tangiblè fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets aTe inilially rneasured al cost and subsequenlty measured al c￿st or valuation. nel of
deprecialion and any impairment losses.
The cost of minor additrons or those Costing less than of £500 are nol capilalized.
Depreciation is recognised so as lo write off Ihe cosl or valuation of assets tess their residual values over their
uselul lives on the following bases:

1.7 Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalenls include cash in hand. dewsits held al ¢all wilh banks, other short-term liquid
inveslmenls wilh original malurilies of Ihree months or less. and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
within boirowings in CLJrrenl liabilities.
1.8 Financial instruments
The charity has elecled lo apply Ihe provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Instruments, and Section 12
'Other Financial Instruments Issues, ol FRS 102 to all of ils financial inslrumenls.
Financial in51rumenls are recognised in Ihe charity's balance sheet when the charily bewmes party lo the
conlraclual provisions of the inslrumenl.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset. wilh Ihe net amounts presented in ihe finanaal slalemenls, when
there is a legally enforceable right lo sel off the recognised amounls and Ihere is an intention to sellle on a nel
basis or lo realise the asset and sellle the liability simultaneously.
1.9 Taxation
The Charity is a registered charity and. therefore, is not liable for Income Tax or Corporalion Tax on income
derived from ils charitable aclivilies, as it falls within the various exemplions available lo registered charities.

1.10 Creditors and Provisions
Creditors and provisions are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulling from a past evenl
that will probably iesull in Ihe Iransfer of funds to a third party and the amount due lo sellle the obligation can
be measured or eslimaled reliably. Creditors and provisions are normally recognised al their settlement
amount after allowing for any trade discounls due.
1.11 Cash flow statement
The charily qualifies as a small charily and advantage has been taken of the exemption provided by SORP
(FRS 1021 as amended by Bulletin l. not lo prepare a cash flow slalement.
1.12 Debtors & Prepayments
Trade and other debtors are recognised al Ihe selllement amount due afler any trade discount offered.
Prepayments are valued al the amount prepaid nel ofany trade discounts due.
Crltlcal accounting estimates and ludgements
In Ihe application of the charity's accounling policies. the Trustees are required lo make ludgemenls,
eslimales and assumptions aboul the carrying amount of assels and liabilities thal are nol readily apparent
from other sources. The eslimales and associated assumptions are based on historical experÈence and other
factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ Irom these eslimales.
The estimates and underlying assumpiions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions lo accounting
eslimales are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affecls only that
period, or in the period of Ihe revision and lulure periods where the revision affeds both ctjrrenl and future
periods.
