ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Main activities
MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS
1. The charity participated in the Arts Council of Wales Investment Review and was successful in
their application to remain an ACW Portfolio Member for 2024-27
2. The charity received £18,000 from Gwynedd Council's Shared Prosperity Fund to develop
Community Dance Activity throughout Gwynedd between October 2023 December 2024.
3. The charity used its own unrestricted funds to employ Iwo Dance Development Practitioners
between April 2022 March 2023. This enabled the charity to create more income to invest
back into the Company.
During the year, Dawns i Bawb has held 678 sessions, with 11,204 participating. It created 1
performance of the Dawns i Bawb Winter Show 'Winter Senses, with 254 audiences and 206
participants of all ages and abilities taking part. The performance was the first live performance in
a theatre since the Covid pandemic.
This year, Ihe charity has applied to remain a member of the Arts Council Wales, Arts Portfolio.
This will enable the charity to continue to receive core funding for another three years. The charity
was successful in its application and received an increase in their grant to £97,500.
WIDENING ENGAGEMENT
The charity gave focus this year to developing new partnerships in order to reach individuals and
community groups that had a low engagement with dance. Two particular partnerships that were
formed included working with a local community hub to offer regular dance sessions to older
people that were attending the hub as a 'warm space, plus working with a culturally integrated local
primary school to develop a dance project where the children could learn Welsh through dance bul
also use dance to celebrate the wide range of different cultures that were present at the school.
RESIDENTIAL HOMES
The sessions enable people living in residential homes lo take part in dance, movement and
music, and the sessions have been specially developed so that they are not dependent on
short-term memory or language skills, but instead focus on people's strengths, feelings and
enduring abilities.
The sessions provide a therapeutic benefit, a form of relief and a means of expression. Using
simple creative movements, it allows people to express something about their identity.
The charity used part of its own 'unrestricted funds, during 23124 to continue to employ two Dance
Development Practitioners for another year. While the charity worked with many freelance dance
practitioners and will continue to do so, it felt that investing into employing two practitioners will
enable the charity to develop a strong creative team and be able lo support partnerships that might
be important to develop as part of the charity's vision, but not be able to afford lo 'buy in, the
charity's services. The charity aims to make these posts a permanent fixture in 24125.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
The results of the charity are shown in the Statement of Financial Activilies. The overall net
incoming resources show a surplus of £21,453 (2023: deficit of £17,307).
The unrestricled general fund ended the year with a surplus of £11,646 (2023: £18,303 surplus),
The designated reserve fund is discussed in more detail under the 'reserves policy, heading.
With regard restricted funds, two projects, the Moon Dance Foundation & ACW project ant the
Dance Development project, came to an end, but a new 'Prosperily fund, was established as a
result of the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund awarding £18,000 to the charity.
Prlncipal funding sources
The charity's principal funding source is the Arts Council for Wales who contributed £87,497 (2023:
£90,209) of core revenue funding for the year.
Of course, funding was also received from both Cyngor Gwynedd and Ynys Mon Council, a
number of Community & Town Councils, and from the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund.
Investment policy and objectives
The trustees, investment powers are governed by the Memorandum & Articles of Association. The
trustees have a policy of keeping any surpluses as liquid fund5 in interest-bearing short-term
deposits, which can be accessed readily. The trustees are of the opinion that the charity needs to
keep its reserves liquid as possible. and therefore does not consider it prudent to invest in other
forms of investments currently.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
The charity has adopted a reserves policy. The company will aim to keep a minimum of three to six
months running costs including any extra reserves for expected future grant funding cuts, as
recommended by the Board of Trustees. This designated reserve held £40,000 as at the year end.
The trustees have established a policy whereby a specific amount should be held as a bespoke
reserve, with this being equivalent to 3 months of the resources expended. The trustees have
decided that a sum of £40,000, which has been allocated to its own designated fund, should be
sufficient at this time. The actual free reserve, as at the end of March 2024, which would include
the £40,000 already designated, at £139,602 (2023.. £121,015), which is above the current target
level, but in these inflationary times, the current free reserve value is not considered to be overly
excessive.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The cornpany is limited by guarantee and is a registered charity and its governing document is its
Memorandum & Articles of Association.
Recrultment and appointment of new trustees
Directors are nominated and elected in a meeting of the Management Board. This is done after
discussions in the previous meetings on their suitability and the specialism they have to offer. They
will be appointed for 3 years to begin with.
