Objec15ves and activities
The ch81ity'S object is to work with young people who are currently in secondary education or of that age,
reg8rdless of social background or specrfic ability. to develop drama and theatre skills. This enhancement of their
formal education promotès skills in critical analysis and self-evaluation, allowing lor deveSopThenl of inter-
personal skills and self-awareness leadlng to the growtr of a welkrounded individual.
In planning our a¢twities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit,
Including the guidance on public bènefit and fe8 charging. St Ives Youth Theatre relies on membership lee8,
grants. donations and the income from performances lo cover all costs incurred. In setling the fees, charges and
concessions, the trustees give careful consideration to the accessibility of both St Ives Youth Theatre itself and
staged performan￿3 lo those on low incom¢s.
The focus ol Sl Ives Youth Tneatre activilieo is organised drourij Stage production8 that seek to challenge our
mÉmbers on a nurnbgr of levels, providing opportunities for them to develop inter-personal skills, self -8waieness
and evaluation. A by-product of this is to provide the loGal community with an tspportunty lo enjoy a broad range
of thealrio31 entertainment and see young people in a positive light.
Sl Ives Youth Theatre is tun on a solely volunteer basis. All Iru¥tees and helpers give of their time and abilities
willingly. Without thi5 group of people, the organisalion would not be able to continue in its present form.
Achi8v•ments and pertormance
202412025 was another hiisy year for SIYT. Our anniial cabarel was very well supported by oiir paientsl
guardians, sotne additional funds were raised by w8y of a lew games and the USLial raffle. Money ra15ed wenl
someway 10 offseiiing our costs lor pulling on the eveni.
OLir Spring show lor 2025 was an unusual and thought-provok1ng piece". '100" 4 characters find Ihemsefves in
liniho" after dyiiig and are given 3 coui)t 01100 to keep one meiiiory from their lifeiime lo relive for eternity. A
povJertLII and well-presented that was directed by a current Ineinber and one that hacl recently left. Simply staged
kvilh 4 n￿veable blocks that represented chairs. beds arid even moioicycles. A single suspended "orb" over the
centre of the s18ge also represented einolions and gave Ilie performance an added edge. NODA reviewed Ihe
performance and piai5ed the cast and production.
We were 11)viled lo attend the NODA awards cereinony in May of 2025. as we had been noiTlinated lor the best
yOLlth performance for our 2024 Production of High School Musical. 6 member5 01 the SIYT team allended and
we were very pleased lo be presen18d with the aw8rd for the NODA Region 2.
For summer 2025. we coniinued w¢lh our usual full cast musical event aiid this year we performed Footloose.
Despite the usual Challenges associated with perfoiming al the Burgess Hall, the veiiue provided addilional
advertising and lickel sales increased. Strong perfortnances and great teamwork saw us nominaled In a nutnber
of categories ai Ihe NODA re(Jional awards. Altholigh iinsLicce.%sful in the majority of iiomii)alions. SIYT can be
proud IhG?I we held our own alongsiije companiès viilh bigger budgels arid with access lo greater re5011rces. Bul
wl)ere we did wiii. 15 where we pride ourselves in what really Inalter5 lo SIYT, and that is In the performances of
all our young cast. 2 Biothers were recognisèd for their performances across both of our 2025 shows.
We began the new season with new member auLlilioTrs sn October and we are busy planning lor our 2026
se8son.

Long lerm aim is to bulld up sufficient fvnds to allow for one years running costs, excluding special events such
as the Edinburgh Fringe festival. This fund is the prime recipient tsf all Gift Aid returns.
Main funding comes from mernbership fees, grants. donations and advertising in our production programmes.
Fundraising events are held to enhance the rnoney available to present perfomiances.
We hold a small bursary fund to a3SlSt farnilies. a maximum of 6, who would struggle to mèet the monthly
membership lee. Only four bursaries were applied for, and granted, during this financial year.
structure. goveinance and management
The charity is 8 company lirnited by guarantee incorporated on 23rd March 2005 and regislered a3 a charity on
9th May 2005. The cornp8ny wa5 established under a Memorandurn of Association which estsbli5hed the
objects and powers ol the charitable company and is governed by ils Artlcles of Association.
There is a Child Prole¢tion policy In place, with a nominated Child Protection representative. Diselosure and
Barring Service ID8SI checks are carried out on anyone Coming into regular contact with the Student members.
All trustees give their time voluntsrily with no financial remuneration or other benefrts. Trustees are appointed or
reappointed at the Annual General Meeting.

Charlty Informatlon
The St Ive3 Youtr Theatre is 8 private company limited by guarantee incoiporated in England and Wales. Thé
registered office is 1 st Floor, Chapel House, Chapel Lane. St Ives. Cambiidgeshire, PE27 7DX.
1.1 Accounting ¢onventlgn
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the charty's governing docurnent, the Companies Act
2008 and 'Ac¢ounlin9 and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to
charitie5 preparing their accounls in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable In the UK
and Republic ol Ireland IFRS 1021 leffective 1 January 20191. The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined
by FRS 102.
The charlty has taken advantage ol the provisions in Ihe SORP for chartties applying FRS 102 Update Bulletin
1 not to prepare a Slalement of Cash Flows.
The finanual statements a￿ prepa￿d in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary
mounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial slalements have been prepared under the historical co31 convèntion. The principal acwunting

1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in further8nce of their charitable
objectives.
Restricted fvnds are subject to specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements.
Endowment funds are subject to specific onditions by donors that the capital must be maintained by th$
charity.
1.4 Incomè
Income is reco9ni5ed when the charity is legally entitled lo it after any performance condilons have been met,
the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be rec81V8d.
Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the charity has been notified
of the donation. unless performance conditions require deferral ol the amount. Income tax ￿CoVerable in
relation to donation5 received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is rg¢ognised at the lime of the donation.
Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise if the charty has been notified of an impending distribution,
the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount Is not known, the legaGy is tiealed as a
contingent asset.

1.5 Expenditure
All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate
all costs related to the category. Where cost5 cannot be directly allributed lo particular headings thay have
been allocated lo a¢tivites on a basis conslstenl with the use ol the re80urces.
Fundraising costs are those incurred in seekirsg voluntary contributions and do not include the costs of
disserninaling information in support ol expenditure on the objects of the charity and include project
management carried out at Headquarters. Management and administration costs are those incurred in
connection with administration of the ¢harlty and Complian￿ with constitutional and slalutory requirements.
1.6 Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixeij assets are initially measured al cost and sUbseq￿ntIY measured at cost or valuation, net of
depreciallon ant1 any impaiiment losses.
Tangible fixed assets costlng more th8n £1,000 are capitalised and included at cost including any incidental
expenses of acqu151tion.
Tangible fixed assets arè stated at cost less depreciation. Depreciatson is provided at rates calculated to write
off the c03t less eslirHated residual value of each asset over its expected useful life, as follows..

1.8 Stocks
Stocks are stated at the lower of cost and eslirnated sening price les$ costs to complete and sell. Cost
comprises direct materials and, where applirable, direct. labour costs and those overheads that have been
incurred in bringing the stocks to their present location and condition. Items hekl for distribution at no oi
nominal consideration are measured the lower ol replacement C051 and cost.

1.9 Cash and cash equlvalents
Cash and cash equivalents include eash in hand, deposits held at call with bank5, Other short-teTm liquid

within borrowings In current liabilities.

contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts pres¢nled in the financial slalements. when

basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.

are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.
