Co-ordinator and an advice service from the Day C¢ntre_ We also peopl¢ who jus1 pop ith for snack5
and thinks. In addifion. we offer a wide range of social a¢iivitie$ both within the Centre such as Chair Yoga and
s¢iabble Clubs. The Chief Offi¢eTs work ¢losely with the Statutory BIMlhe5. VoluThtsry Organizations, Gen¢rdl
Pra¢titionets. Care15 ar)d Farnilies in th¢ hope that no i)ne is left in need.
However. for the majority of the last year. during the ¢￿va￿lDg Covid Patthmic, effectively the Centr¢ h*s
been clo%d until July 2021 bu¢ coutinued to o￿Tate a Meals on Wheels Service, Befn'cDdin8, SeNi¢e,
Prescription and ShoppiDg 5ervice5 in accordance with Government Covid guidelthes until that time.
Respite care for those living wilh a Dementia and their earers is offered through the Swiflower Centrc. Thi5 too
was closed for m05t of the year due io the pandemic. although demand ss COnSJ$tetht_ The Certrre hopes 10 expand
on thss highly successfvl service although this has been v¢ry limited to klephone Contsci and other Contact
within Covid guidelines dunng the Iwkdowm periods.
The Day Centre is managed by Janei Baker who 1$ our Chi¢f Officer. Janei tnana8&% the Day Centre Manager.
Sunflower Qntrt Manager, staff and a learn of YolunteeTS who work to fulfill our aims.
All Staff work ex¢eptionally well as a well orgamsed team to provide probably the best CoDcern facilities
ID Kent.
W¢ are also Frirnds of Age UK.
As a conditiort of our Gran¢, we work to a Servi¢e i£vel Agree￿￿TrI s¢t dowi by Kent County Council. S¢xial
Services Department. Our fund5 are accessed through SEK Ln addition to this in the la51 year we have accessed
many gTant5 and Govetnment 5UPPOrt which wa5 on offer. Wc have a current Health & Safety Policy and an up
to date Firc Procedure. We have adopied an Equal OprM)rtunities Policy. All policies have been (horoughly
reviewed in the I￿1 year and are all up to date.

Since April 1st 2004 the Centre has been operdied by Age Conwn Sandwich Centre forthe Retired. a company
limited by guarsn¢e¢ thd bas reg]siered this wDpany with the Chariti¢s Commission.
As stated in previous year5 we are unable to ¢xt¢nd ow facilities hjnher due to the stru¢ttJral siz¢ of th¢
premises. However we continue Striving ￿ Tna2lltain a COTnfonable. clean aod wel¢otning Centre for our ¢li¢nts.
All staff h¥ received appropriate trairling in all 35pects of their jobs and further training is plaulled.
Ase C￿¢¢M Sandwich Centre for the Retired runs two Charity Shop5 in Sandwich which are vital in financially
SUPPOtttng the Day Cenlre. The Charity Shops in Market Street and Cattle Market continue to make a great
ontribution to the Ccntre's finan¢¢s although th¢y both were closed during the pandemic.
Both the Day Centre and Chanty Shops continue to rely heavily on the invaluable help given by our volunteers
who work tirelessly for our ¢ause_ These volunteers a￿ overs¢en by the Day C¢ntr¢ Chief OffJ¢ers and H¢ad of
Retail who have day to day resp)ttsibility for all m4tM fflabrtg to the Centre and Charity Shops.
None of our volunteers are expected to lift. bath or toilei any clients due lo the fact that the tnajority are eldcrly
people themselves. They do however work in our HairdreSSiD8 Salor4 tht Main Centre, thc Tea Bar. Mea15 Oll
Wheels, Bethending and Charity Shops.
