STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

The Charity is governed by a document known as a constitution. It is an unincorporated association administered by trustees who are elected during the year.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

The charity’s prime objective is to advance the education of pupils at Hanslope Primary School by providing or assisting in the provision of educational, recreational and other charitable facilities by the local authority or the Department for Education.

In planning the activities for the year the trustees kept in mind the charity commission’s guidance on public benefits.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

We have been able to commence school residential trips again with great success.

These trips are chargeable and are sometimes subsidized by the school fundraising team or the school budget.

Year 6 had a residential to Overstrand Hall in Norfolk Year 1 Woburn Safari Park and Year 2 Whipsnade Zoo both day trips. Moving forward we already have another residential booked.

We received donations from the FOHS who had organized various small events, including cake sales and discos.

During the school year the children undertake music lessons, with a number of different instruments being available including cello, violin, keyboard and woodwind

Fundraising Activities

In planning the activities for the year, the trustees kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

A small group of fundraising volunteers, supported by the school administration team, have spent many hours organizing and maintaining events throughout the year. The trustees are grateful for their valuable contributions.

The volunteers organize and run the fundraising events under the umbrella of the ‘Friends of Hanslope School’ (FOHS). The school administrative staff focus on the music provision, residential and educational trips of the pupils.

The school fund also deals with the sale of water bottles and book bags. Any fundraising undertaken by the children for specific reasons (for example Comic Relief or Children in Need) is forwarded on to the relevant company or charity.

To raise funds for our new pupil kitchen we have been holding various events, for example at the end of each month having a non-uniform day, during the warmer weather selling ice lollipops and our Christmas Jumper/Theme Day was popular.

There had been three applications made to the Hardship Fund giving a balance of £805.00 withdrawn.
