Objectives and Activities

The object of the Charity is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by:

The Executive Committee, as trustees of the charity, confirm that they have complied with their duty to conduct the affairs of the charity with due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance

With the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, the Charity was delighted to be able to return to holding in-person events in the year, culminating in the well supported Summer Fair in June 2022. It really was super to see the school community coming together again and enjoying themselves.

Whilst the Charity depends on a small core of volunteers who give up their own time to organise and run events and campaigns, and make grant applications, it remains dependent on the goodwill of a large number of volunteers to make the events successful. The Trustees are very grateful to each and every person who contributes their time, no matter how much or little they are able to give, be it to volunteer at a Fair, cake sale or other event, or to support the Charity simply by their attendance at the events.

The Charity has been able to grant £33,336 to the school this year. It has funded the overpass project so that children can play in the lovely new huts that have been constructed. The overpass has been an eyesore for so long and it was amazing to see the transformation of this area. The Charity has also contributed to the Library revitalisation project, making the previously unutilised library space an up-to-date, inviting space where all children will be able to spend time developing their love of reading. Furthermore, the additional playground markings in both KS1 and KS2 playgrounds have been a huge hit with the children.

As we look to the coming year, the Trustees are excited to be able to build on learnings from the past year and deliver well planned enjoyable events in order to continue to raise funds.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Friends of West Wimbledon Primary School

I report to the trustees and members of Friends of West Wimbledon Primary School (Charity Registration number 1108564) on my examination of the accounts of the charity (“The Trust”) for the year ended 31 August 2022 set out on pages 7 to 11.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

• the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
