The charity's obje¢t$ ue io promote within the fornier Borough of B¢xhill, East SusseL the welfare of the
disabled, a8ed, housebound and lonely. in any manner which is now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be
¢harit8ble.
The majority of the th of the ¢hariry is undert•ken by a dedicaled l¢Jm of people who 8iv¢ their time and
ener8y free of ¢har8e. Any out of pocket expenses which are incurred are reimbursed to the volunlary workers.
In setting the charity's objectives and pl•Thnin8 its activities. the trust¢¢s have given ¢onsid¢rntion to ih¢ Charity
commission 8uidan¢¢ on public benefil.
Achlevements aad p¢rfornanee
The following activities wtre evried out throughoui the year on a daily s¢rvi¢¢: wnning one Ihy ¢entre at SI
Peters Community Centre, sellins donited second hond medical equipmen( community egr setvice (for medical
appointments only), Dial A Rid¢ (people unable to board a nornial bus or taxi Service), librw service for th¢
housebound and electric blankel testin8. Help ond advice is given to the elderly seeking lo claim welfare
benefits. Many of thcje people need • home visit. Vouchers are provided at Christmas for those in need.

The total funds of The Bexhill Caring Community decreased in the year to £419.445. The market value of our
investments lisled on the London Stock Exchange decreased by £14,025. Resources expended on the charitable
a¢tivilycs increased to £229J23.

I report to the Charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 Ma￿h
2024.

As the charity's trustees of the Company (and also its dir¢¢tors for the PUTPOS¢S of ¢ompany law) you are
responsible for the pr¢parntion of the accounts in a¢¢ordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006
('the 2006 Act,).
Having satisfied myself that the a¢counts of the COmp￿Y are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the
2006 Act and arc cligible for independent examination, I rcport in respect of my examination of your Charity's
counts as carried out under section 145 of the Charitie5 Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act,). In carryin8 Ollt my
examination I have followed the Directions 8iven by the Charity Commission under sKlion 145(5Mbl of the

Statemen¢ of complianee
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charitie$:
Statement of Recomm¢nded Practiee (applicable lo ¢harities pr¢wing their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)) (issued in O¢tober 2019)
(Charili¢s SQRP (FRS 102)). th¢ Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
(FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
B*8ts of preparation
The Bexhill Caring Community meets the definition of a public benefit enlity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initially recognised at historical Cost or transaction vttlue unless otherwise stated in the relevant
a¢countin8 policy notes.
Going eon¢¢rn
The trustees consider that there are no material un¢ertainli¢s about the charity's ability to continue as a going
conrem nor any 5ismificant areas of uncertainty that affect the carrying value of wets held by the dlarity.
Exemptlon from preparing * ¢a$b flow statement
The charity opted to early adopt Bulletin I published on 2 February 2016 ond have therefore nol included a cash
flow stst¢ment in these financial statcments.
Income and endowments
All income is recognised once the charity has entitlement to the income, it 1$ probable ihat the income will be
received and the amount of the inwme reeeivable can be measured reliably.
Donaftons and legacies
Donations are re¢ogni$ed when the charity has been notified in writing of both the amount and settlement date.
In the event that a donation 15 subject to condition5 that require a level of perforniance by the charity before the
charity is entitled to the funds. the income is deferrd and not recognised until either those conditions are fully
met, or the fulfilment of those conditions is wholly within the control of the charity and it is probable ihat these
conditions will be fulfilled in the reporting period.
Legw gifts are recognised on a case by ￿se basis following the grant of probate when the
administratorlexecutor for the estate has communicated in writing both the amount and settlement date. In the
event that the gift is in the forn) of an asset other than cash or a financial asset traded on a recogni5ed stock
exchan8¢. recognition is subject to the value of the sift being reliably measurable with a degree of r&qsonable
accuracy and ihe title to th¢ asset having been transferred to the charity.

Inwming resources from tax reclaims are included in the Statement of Financial Activities at the same time as
the gift to which they relate.

Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the
charity. this is norn)ally upon notification of the intercst paid or payable by the bank.Dividend5 are recognised
once the dividend has be￿ declared and notification has been received of the dividend due.
Expenditure
All expenditure is recognised once there is a le8al or constructive obligation to that expenditure, it is probable
settlement is required and the amoum Can b¢ measured reliably. All Costs are allocated io the applicable
expenditure heading that ag￿e similar costs to thai category. Where costs cannot be dircctly attributed lo
particular headings they have been alloca*d on a basis consistent with the use of resources. with Central staff

Governanee Costs
The￿ i￿lUde the costs attributable to th¢ charity's compliance with ¢onstilulional and sthtutory requirements,
in¢luding audiL strntegic management and trustees meetings atHI reimbutsed expenses.
Taxation
Th¢ charity is considered to pass the tests set out in Paragraph I Schedule 6 of the Finance Ath 2010 and
therefore it meets the definition of a charitable company for UK ¢orpora¢ion tax purposes. Accordingly. the
¢harity is potentially exempt from taxation in respcci of income or capitsl gains received within categories
¢overed by Chapter 3 Part I l of the Cory)oration Tax Ad 2010 OT Section 256 of the Taxation of Chargeable
Gains Act 1992, 10 the exteni that such income or gains are applied exclusively io ¢haritabl¢ purposes.

Trade ¢r¢ditors are obligations lo pay for goods or s¢rvi¢¢s that have been acquired in the ordinary course of
business from suppliers. Accounls PY4yable are classified as curreni liabilities if the Charity does not have an
unconditional right, at the end of the reporting period, to d¢f¢r settlement of the creditor for at least twelve
months after the reporting date. If ihere is an unconditional ri8ht to defer settlement for ai leisi twelve months
fter the reporting date, they ￿e presented as non<urrent liabilities.

Tronsactions in foreign currencies are recorded at the ratc of exchange at the date of the transaction. Monetary

Th¢ ¢harity opera¢¢s a defined ¢onlribulion pension ￿heme which is a pension plan under which fix
eonlribulions are paid into a pension fund and the charity has no legal or ￿nstrU¢l1ve obli881ion to pay further
conlributions even if the fund does not hold $uffi¢i¢nl 455ets to ptty all employees the benefits ￿latin& to
employtt service in the current and prior periods.
Contributions lo defined contribution plans are re¢o8nised in the Statement of Financial Activities when they are
due. If Contribution payments exceed Ihe contribution due for service, the excess is recognised as a prepayment.
