Para 1.20 | As stated above we provide healthy recreation for c.150 members and also a thriving clubhouse where members can socialise and participate in various club activities. We regularly entertain groups from local communities, associations, youth organisations who wish to try the game of bowls. We host a number of competitions and county events during the year, open to members of other bowls clubs, and also participate in a number of local leagues. | Achievements against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | Whilst our membership has declined slightly in recent years, largely due to ill health, our recruitment program remains strong, and we remain one of the largest local bowls clubs. Club outdoor bowlers enjoyed success in county competitions in 2024 and one lady and one male member reached the National Finals at Leamington. Indoor short mat bowling continues to grow in popularity and this year a number of our bowlers also reached National Finals. |
| Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | Whilst subscriptions and donations were down a little on prior year, this was more than compensated by the hard work of our volunteers raising increased amounts from daily social and fund raising activities during the year. |
| Investment performance against objectives |
Para 1.41 | Investment income was significantly increased this year as savings rates improved nationally. |
Other
Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | The charity remains in a healthy financial position with total funds at our disposal being significantly above the target reserve (being approximately 2 years worth of fixed costs) |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The above reserve figure is to guard against the risk of our facilities becoming unusable for whatever reason, albeit some such risks would be mitigated by our insurance policies |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | Whilst not held in a separate bank account we seek to retain a minimum of £30,000 in reserve. |
| Reasons for holding zero reserves |
Para 1.22 | N/A |
| Details of fund materially in deficit |
Para 1.24 | None |
| Explanation of any uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern |
Para 1.23 | None |
Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:
The charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising) |
Para 1.47 |
Our principal sources of funds comes from membership subscriptions, bar and catering operations for members and visiting teams, raffles and Open competitions that we organise and host. |
|---|---|---|
| Investment policy and objectives including any social investment policy adopted |
Para 1.46 | All investments are with regulated high street banks or financial institutions. |
| A description of the principal risks facing the charity |
Para 1.46 | The major challenge is with arresting the decline in membership by recruitment of new members to replace those no longer to continue bowling, and in continuing to grow income from club activities to offset the ever-rising increases in operating costs. However, as previously stated our healthy financial position provides a cushion against these issues. |
