Report of the Trustees for the Year Ended 31 August 2023

The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2023.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Objectives and aims

The charities objectives are to advance the education of the pupils in the school and to raise funds for school improvements.

The majority of the funds were raised through several fundraising events throughout the year including, Christmas shopping evening, Wreath making, Discos, Easter Fayre and a Summer Fun Day.

In setting objectives and planning for activities, the Trustees have given due consideration to general guidance published by the charity commission relation to public benefit.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

The main achievements during the year were paying for trim train and playground markings at St Edumund Campion School, the maintenance of the pool and allowances given to teachers for classroom resources.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

It is the policy of the Trust that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent to between three and six months expenditure. The Trustees consider that reserves at this level will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will still be able to confine the Trust's current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This level of reserves has been maintained throughout the year.

At the end of the financial year, the cash reserves held was £29,430.

This financial year and post COVID, we haven't run all the events which would normally be run in a year, so the income hasn't reached pre-COVID levels, this in combination with the higher than normal costs during the year for pool maintenance, has resulted the expenditure being in excess of the income. The pool costs during the year were much higher than a normal year and are expected to return to a normal level over the coming years, so this year's excess of expenditure over income isn't expected to continue.

FUTURE PLANS

The policy on non-allocated income is to carry the monies forward to the next fiscal year to cover on-going expenses and future requests for income from the school.

The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated charity.

C Credland resigned as secretary during the year, S Sadler was appointed as the new secretary. K Suthall resigned as treasurer during the year, S Wilkes was appointed as the new treasurer.

The trustees have assessed the major risks to which they are exposed and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of St Edmund Campion School Friends & Associates PTA

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of St Edmund Campion School Friends & Associates PTA (the Trust) for the year ended 31 August 2023.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
