Annual Treasurers/Administrators Report 2025

The accounts have been prepared by Mansell and Co and they confirm they are a true reflection of our income and expenditure over the past year. As in previous years, they will be filing our corporation tax return with the Tax Office and the annual accounts with Companies House. The accounts are no longer required to be formally audited as Rainbow is exempt as being a small company (Rainbow has a turnover of less than £6.5 million).

Income increased substantially from 2023/2024 as we were more or less at full capacity and we had an increase in our hourly charges.

Expenses increased slightly. Salaries stayed at the same level.

A substantial profit has been recorded this year, which made up for the losses of the previous year (this was due to having to pay legal expenses incurred not only for ourselves but for Essex County Council, in respect of the new lease for the additional part of the building).

Rainbow’s utilities have been increased to £12,000. The new lease part of the monthly payment covers the cost of gas and electricity.

A successful year was had with fundraising activities, including the Christmas hamper raffle, Dress Up Days, a toy stall and Sponsored Sports and Graduation Day. Fundraising helps support the purchase of additional resources.

I trust you will find the accounts self-explanatory but I am happy to answer any queries you may have.

Our stalwart volunteers returned to assist us in September 2024, but Edna Baker decided due to health reasons to retire from volunteering in December. Ann Conroy and Lisa Clark continue, we cannot thank them enough for their support.

All staff have continued their professional development. Each room has a SENCo plus Safeguarding deputies overseen by Alison, the Safeguarding Lead. All staff renew their Level 2 safeguarding each September. Alison and Nicki completed Trauma Perceptive Practice training. Lucy passed the Governments COVID recovery training, for which Rainbow was awarded additional funds.

Ash joined Rainbow and is undertaking her Level 3 training and Leah joined too, studying for her Level 2. Joyce moved over to work-based learning for her Level 3. Yasmine decided to leave in February 2025 for a career change.

Looking to the future we continue to have waiting lists, although we will now have competition from a full day care setting coming to Stansted.

We have now been running two classrooms for 3 years. Even more parents are now waiting until their child’s funding comes in which means we have less privately funded children. The way forward continues to be to offer breakfast and afterschool clubs plus a holiday club. There is still no funding available to set this up for pre-school children as the government continue to concentrate on primary school children. The first step along this path would be to send out a questionnaire to parents to gauge what the interest would be.

This is my final report as I have decided to retire in September 2025. It has been my pleasure to serve Rainbow as a volunteer and a paid member, and ultimately as Administration Manager over the last 35 years. Much has changed in this time and Rainbow is being handed over to the very capable hands of Lorraine Hayes and Jenny Rapkin to take Rainbow forward.

If you have any queries I will be happy to answer them.
