REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of twst, and constitutes a
limited company, limited by guarantee. as defined by the Companies Act 2IXI6.
Recruitment and appoinlment of new trustees
The current board of trustees has been selected from graduates of United World Colleges.
parents of graduates and other volunteers who have been aclive in supporting the aims of
the committee over the years and their lerms of appointment confomi to th& memorandum
and articles of association. As we seek to strengthen the capacity to deliver our
objectives. we aim to recruit new trustees with the appropriate skills as well as a passion
for UWC.
Organi6ational Structure
The charity is organised so that the trustees meet regularly to discuss th8
development of the charity and its objectives.
Related partlés
The charity has been formed to c￿ate a better awareness of the objectives of the
United World Colleges movement and has a close relationship in professional and
funding terms with Allantic College in South Wales along wilh the sixleen overseas
United World Colleges.
Risk management
The major risks, to which the charity is exposed, as Identified by the trustees, have
been reviewed and systems have been established to mitigate those risks. It is
recognised that Systems can only provide reasonable but not absolute a55uran
that major risks have been adequately managed. The trustees are satisfied that the
risks the charity faces at this early stage in its development are minimal.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The purpose of charity (UWCGB) is to promole the work of the United World College
movement within Great Britain.11 does this primarily Ihrough the selection of young
people (16-19) to attend the UWC colleges at home and around the world. The
charity is committed to ensuring that young people from a variety of socio-economic
backgrounds benefit frorn this incredible educational opportunity
The core activities of the charity are to select young people from across Great Brttain
to attend the UWC colleges. The colleges offer scholarship funding that they

administer and UWCGB finds worthy recipients of the allocated places. These
recipients attend the UWC colleges ft)r a ￿0-year residential programme where they
study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Along with the trustees, the
charity is largely supported by volunteers many of whom are UWC graduates or
former UWC parentsleducators. To support with this work, the charity has contractors
who work on promoting UWC across the county and are involved in the
administrative work for applicants.
The trustees have a clear understanding of the guidance around public benèfit, and
Ihis underpins the work they do for UWCGB. UWC graduates make an impacl in all
walks of life and often retum to their local communities to fulfil the UWC mlssion. The
application process itself is design8d to offer a mini UWC &xperience and is an
extremely reflective prO￿sS for a young person to undertake and we know often
increases their confidence and boosts motivation to develop themselves whether or
not they attend a UWC.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
.UWC brings people from every part of the UK and allows them lo access to an
educalion that would not be possible within their local community. Whelher or not
they receive a scholarship from us, the young people involved go into their local
community and oftan make a significant contribution after they retum from th&ir time
studying at UWC whether at home or overseas.

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
Reserves policy
The Irustees have examined th& charity's r8quirement for reserves in light of the main risks to
the organisation. It has been established a policy whereby restricted funds not invested in
tangible fixed assets should be capable to meet overhead costs over a three month period. As
the charity has a small amount of financial activlly al this time it is not expected that the
reserves requirement will be material but thi8 will bp Teviewed by the trustees on a bi-annual
basis.
The charity's funds have all bean applied in accordance with its objèctives.
Investment policy and objectives
The charity will develop a prudent amount of reserves in accordance wilh its policy and other
than that does not expect to generate substantial funds for long term investment at this time. It
will maintain cash reserves in the most beneficial inlerest-boaring aGGounts Ihat are available
to il from ils bank.
This report has been prepared in accordance wilh Ihe spocial provision5 of Part 15 of tho
Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
