OBJECTIVES AND AcfiviTIES
Objectives and alms
Pur
. oses and aims
The original charity wa5 establlshed by Edward and Dorothy Cadbury In 1928 for benevolent purposes. The Interests
of the founders focused on social welfare, music, nature, education and training and reflected the Quaker values of
simplicity, equallty. justice, peace and care of the envlronment.
These Snterests and values have helped shape the grantmakln8 policy of the charlty and the trustees believe that their
mission today is as relevant as It Wa5 when Edward and Dorothy Cadbury first identified the need to SUPPOrt the local
community. The Intere5t5 of the founders and the trustee body therefore particularly focus on supporting the
voluntary sector, music and the arts, children's charities and dlsadvantaged groups in the West Mldlands and
Worcestershire.
In 2004 the trustees took the decision to set up an incorporated charlty and to give greater deflnltSon to the objectives
of the charity. The objects of the newly formed charity became '5uch exclusively charitable purposes, includlng the
advancement of citizenship or community development, relief of those In need by reason of youth, age, 111 health,
disablllty. financial hardship or other disadvantage, advancement of art5, heritage and science and other purposes
beneficial to the communlty, as the trustees may decide." The trustee5 believe that these objects fully reflect the
original alms of the charity and respect the legacy of its founders whlle recognlslng the need to interpret 'benevolent
purpose within a modern day context In a meaningful way.

Because of the inherent lirTllt<ltioris ol dl) audiL, Lhere is a risk that we will not detect all irregularities, including those
leading to a material misstatement in the financial statements or non-compliance with regulation. This risk increase5
the more that compliance with a law or regulation is removed from the event5 and transactions reflected in the
