This is the financial report for the Burlington Schools’ Association charity, for the financial year ended 31 July 2023
- The cash fund brought forward from the 2021-2022 financial year, as at 1 August 2022 was: £48,093.37
[represented by £37,222.53 (current a/c), £3,078.84 (deposit a/c), £7,762 (BINS voluntary contribution account) and £30 (cash)]
- £49,031.72 was raised overall last year: circulating is a breakdown of how much each event raised
- £15,160.07 of expenses were paid overall last year: circulating is a breakdown of how much each event cost
Funds paid from the BSA Account in this financial year to each school comprises of the following:
- £1,700 paid to Infants for classroom contributions
- £7,762 paid to Infants from 2021-2022 voluntary contributions account
- £1,836.63 paid to Infants from HMRC Gift Aid claim
- £16.66 paid to Infants for LED Lights for BGT
- £600 paid to Juniors for the Southsea school trip
- £380 paid to Juniors for the Year 6 Leavers disco
- £676.20 paid to Juniors towards the Authors Aloud visit
- £1,140 paid to Juniors towards the ICT Suite refurbishment
The total payments made to the Schools therefore were: £14,111.49
- The accounts will be independently examined as the charity’s income was in excess of £25,000; this is a requirement of the Charities Commission.
- The cash fund carried forward to the current financial year as at 31 July 2023 is £66,715.91:

- £3,103.22 deposit a/c
- £6,600 BINS 2022-2023 voluntary contributions account
- £30 cash
2022-2023 Financial Year – Outstanding Payments
- There is a total of £521.16 in outstanding expenses from the colour run to be paid

- £250 Ivy Gate sponsorship went into the account after the end of the financial year
Introduction of an Expenses Cap
The BSA Committee would like to introduce an expenses cap to better manage the costs of running events. We propose a requirement for committee agreement on any expenses likely to exceed £150 by an individual for a single event

Burlington Infant & Nursery School (BINS)
- Available funds as at 1 August 2023 was £15,941.01 plus 2021-2022 voluntary contributions
- Funds paid to BINS as at 31 July 2023 was £1,716.66 plus 2021-2022 voluntary contributions and gift aid claim
- Remaining balance as at 31 July 2023 is £14,224.35
Burlington Junior School (BJS)
- Available funds as at 1 August 2023 was £17,509.01
- Funds paid to BJS as at 31 July 2023 was £2,796.20
- Remaining balance as at 31 July 2023 is £14,712.81
Funds available to spend 2023-2024
- Current Account Balance £56,982.69 minus outstanding payments £521.16 minus buffer £2,000 = £54,461.53
- Deduct 2022-2023 BINS remaining balance of £14,224.35 and BJS remaining balance of £14,712.81 = £25,524.37
- This leaves £12,762.18 per school

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Burlington Schools Association
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Burlington Schools Association for the year
ended 31" July 2023.
Responsibilities for the basis of the report
As the charity trustees of Burlington Schools Association you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charitr'es Act 20111"the Act").
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accountg carried out under sethon 145 of the 2011
Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all of the applicable Directions given by the
Charity Commission under section 14515llbl of the Act.
Independent examiner's report
I have completed my examination and I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect..
l. Accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act,. or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records,. or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content
of accounts set out in the Charities IAccounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any
requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part
of an independent examination.
On the basis of the documentation and clarifying information provided by the Treasurer, l am happy to
confirm that I consider that these P&L accounts show a true and fair view of the financial position at year
end July 2023. 1 have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the
examination to which attention should be drawn in this report to enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.
