Structure and Mana8ement:
The Company is governed by its Constitution, vthich was adopted on 29 July 21JM and amended at its Annual
General Meeti￿4 (AGMI on 9" September 2011. Membership is open to all those over 18 years of age, who have
sympathy with the object of the Company, and who pay the annual subxription. Each mernber has one vote at
the AGM or any extraordinary meetings which may be held. Junior members (under 18 years) do rK)t have voting
rights.
The day to day rnanagernent of the Company is by the Executive Committee, elected at the AGM. The mernbers
of the Executive Committee are also the Trustees. The Officers Ichairman. Hon. Secretsry and Hon. Treasurer)
may serve on the Executive Commtiee for a maximurn of five years; other members of the Committee may serve
for a maximum of three years. Trustees are recruited from among the mernbership and may stand for election at
the AGM, provided that their candidary has been proposed and seconded by two other members. Elections are
by secret ballot of those attending the AGM, Candidat￿ names having been circulated in advance of the meeling.
The Company has in place a Health and Safety Policy and a Safeguarding and Chlld Protectfon Policy. When junior
members are taking part in performances, the Cornpany adheres strirtty to the rules governing their safeguardin
including the appointment of chaperones. who are DBS thecked and licensed by West Sussex County Council.
Acthilties and ObJecUves In the year:
The Constitution ststes that the objects of the Company are "to educate the public in the dramatic and operatic
art5. and to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts." To this end. this year the
Company gave publ¢c performances of A Midsummer-Niqht s Dream {outdoorsl, a modern version of the Victorian
classic Jekyll and Hyde, a trdditional Christmas pantomime, which included actors with ages ranging from 13 to 93
vears, and a modern comedy. written by a local author. Theatre Schook were held during the Easter and Summer
school holidays and proved very popular with kxal children.
Achlevenwits and Perfornianc&
The performances this year were well-attended by members of the public, from the village of Henfield and further
afield. The productions and Theatre Schools enabled young people to learn and develop acting skills in both
serious roles and comedy. Jekyll and Hyde ￿d$ nominated in several categories during the annual Brighton &
Hove Arts Council Drama Awards, and won avrdrds in four categories, including Best Overnll Production.
nandal Revlew:
The Company does not take on any loans or other liabilities. It doe5 not own any assets, nor does it hold any
funds as a custodian trustee. Income is derived from mernbership subscriptions, ticket sales, costume hire,
¢xcasional fundraising and donations. Expenditure is that necessarity incurred for the stsging of shows, e.8. hall
hire for rehearsals and performances. costs of sets and costumes, publicity and insurance. End of year accounts
are always examined by a qualified Examiner.
