Review of 2021-22 Activities

During the 2021-22 school year, the Charity organised a range of fundraising events raising gross income of £14,765 (2020-21: £8,590) with costs of £3,740 (2020-21: £1,396) generating a surplus of £11,025 (2020-21: £7,194). The difference between the 2021-22 school year and the prior 2020-21 school year is largely due to the effect of the COVID pandemic on the prior year, which prevented many in-person social activities and large fairs from occurring. Thus, the 2020-21 year was unusually less productive, while the 2021-22 school year represented a return to normal activities. In particular, the 21-22 year included both a Christmas and Summer Fair, generating a net of £6,898 in surplus, while the previous year did not include any fairs.

In addition, the charity received £12,921 (2020-21: £16,404) in donations, somewhat reduced from prior year donation levels.

A total of £29,880 (2021-21: £22,899) was spent during the year to support the school. In comparison to the prior year in which funds were allocated for several purposes, this year the funds went only to one project, which was the refurbishment of the Year 5 and 6 Front Playground.

The Charity ended the year with £26,097 available for further support to the school, all of which remains unrestricted. All reserves are held in the Charity’s primary bank account or as cash in hand, for future disbursement in accordance with the Charity’s Objects.

The Charity is dependent on volunteers both for its governance and organising its events and wishes to thank all its supporters for their hard work during the year. The Charity has no paid employees and does not pay for fundraising or other services.

This Trustees report was approved by the Trustees on 1 September 2022.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Friends Association of Bonneville

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2022, which are set out on pages 1 to 5.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:

Basis of Independent examiners report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual terms or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
